What's something you will only do once?

Question

In general i personally only give a warning once, there's no three strikes here, it's only one and depending on what It is, there might not even be one, I think if you have to give more than one warning or chance, you aren't being taken seriously.

I will also only trust someone once, full trust as in undoubtable trust, someone breaks it, that type of trust is unachievable to reach again, these are two of mine, what's something y'all only do once? 🤔

One time in college I had to take this Biology 101 class (failed twice, ayyyyyyy😂). It was a one hour lecture three days a week, plus a three-hour lab class once a week.

So here’s a fun fact about me: I would sooner be skinned alive than attend a three hour class of anything school-related, lmfao. That’s just not what I do, it’s just not who I am😂

So they failed my ass and tried to force the issue. (Lesson learned: never take a class where attendance is part of your grade) I had to try to take it again for my major at the time, so this time I resolved to just face a blunt on the way to lab and be high as fuck for the whole thing to hopefully make it tolerable.

So I was there one day, high as a giraffe’s ass, and I saw they had laid out little kits to dissect frogs and whatnot with. I was finally enthused to do something in the lab…. BUT, of course, that was done like the last hour, so I’m still dying for those first two hours.

So I’m there with my lab partner Sharice, who would just laugh so hard at my jokes and antics, she made me feel like I was the funniest person alive, so I would ham it up for her. I’m playing around with the dissection kit and fooling with the tweezers…. and I had an idea.

So the lab bench we sat at had a power box at each seat sticking up at the front of the table with plug outlets. I knew the old “don’t stick a fork into the power outlet” warnings from childhood, I was aware metal conducted electricity….. but I also knew you had to form a circuit with it to get zapped. We had a family friend who worked for the city subway, and he told me when I was a kid that the “third rail” you aren’t supposed to touch…it’s ok to walk it like a balance beam, but if you touch the ground with one foot, you’re cooked.

So with that in my mind…. I wondered what happened if you DIDN’T form a circuit?

I took the tweezers out of the dissection kit, and I wrapped my hand in my shirtsleeve. I got the verrrryyyyyy tips of the tweezers in just enough to be held in place for a second by the holes in the socket, without pushing all the way in. And then, with my wrapped hand, I just just quickly jammed them in and pulled my hand away.

This thing starts popping and sparking and going off like Chinese New Year💀💀💀💀💀💀 It just lasted a second, but EVERYONE turned around to look. Sharice starts dying laughing, which caused me to start dying laughing, like one of those laughs where you’re laughing so hard you’re afraid you’ll suffocate😂

Lab teacher is like “uhhhhh…. everything ok back there?”, and I was just laughing too hard to answer. THEN, like half an hour later she has us stand up and go to one side of the room to show us this thing called a centrifuge…. basically a round thing that spins test tubes really fast to mix the contents. She goes to turn it on, and…. nothing.

She goes “Ok, well…. APPARENTLY the power is dead for some reason….”, and just shot me this look, lmfao. It should come as no surprise that I failed again😂

BUT…. I never need to stick another tweezer into an electrical socket. I’ve really grown😎

Tough for me to tell; I tend to try to adapt to the situation. I'm a bit detail-oriented so I tend to be maximally accommodating to the precise context of a situation taking into account all the goriest details, but my weakness is often in setting hard rules and boundaries. I've had that tendency of mine exploited in the past.

I instead have rules like, "Never lend someone such a large sum of money that I don't mind if I never get paid back." Or never accept an apology if the apology implies that the person will repeat their behavior again (ex: never accept an apology of a woman who blames her menstrual cycle for behaving in the worst way possible, since I can then only expect that behavior to be repeated over and over each time of the month).

I can't really think of something I'd do only once. Been thinking about it and I'm stumped.

ohmehgoshkies. I always thought you were faking this tough guy thing to impress people on the interwebz, but 1 or no warnings? You really do be so hard, my guy. Remind me not to mess with your My Little Pony collection, or risk your wrath.

For me? I will only piss in my friend's Cheerios once. Now, every time he's having a bad day, and people ask him "who pissed in your Cheerios", he tells them that I did, and then there is awkward silence.
