What are you most afraid of?

We are all afraid of something - as humans, this is normal and nothing to be ashamed of.

I am most afraid of making a diagnostic or treatment error, and having a patient badly injured or dying as a result.

I'm not a big fan of EFPs (IEDs on super steroids that cut through armor like butter) since you can't shoot back, but a) what are you gonna do and b) that part of my life is over. When the assassination attempts were made (well, just before) I was afraid I'd be severely injured to the point I'd be taken out of the fight and have to watch my teammates potentially get slaughtered around me. I know 3 of them wouldn't have left my side if I'd ordered them to, and I'd already seen enough good men and women fall at that point. My last team was honestly my best. Not just for the sentimental reasons of "y'all are my last team ever"... though of course that matters as well, but once we got some dead weight off the team it really was a phenomenal group of people that I was honored to get to lead.

My mom had a couple health scares while I was deployed. That was frightening, especially since one was right after a buddy of mine expired en route to Germany and his family who was in the air from the States thought he was more or less fine just really banged up until they landed and found out there was a piece of shrapnel nobody found in his chest, and he was DOA on the ground before they arrived. Made for a long flight back to the states.

In all the years since then I think the worst time was when I didn't know how my little rescue kitten would understand daddy not coming home again if i died of my heart attack. She saw me leave that night out a door that I never go out when leaving the property, and she'll just wait there for hours normally until I come back in. She hates being outside for any amount of time, but the nurses said if my condition didn't improve they'd let her be snuck in to the cardian critical care unit so I could say goodbye, and I knew the trip there would have scared her, and I didn't want that, obviously.

Oh and I hate heights, which people find odd since I've HALO jumped, but that's a different kinda fear.

For my job? Effing up an order, failing to mention to the cooks about an allergy and someone’s throat starts closing up, dropping a very expensive bottle of wine all over my guests, or anything at all.. tailgaters.. and most recently, a boy that had a huge crush on me.. I thought he was going to get into a physical fight with another boy who likes me
