Inspired by the movie The Hangover 2009, have you ever been so drunk that you couldn't remember the day before?

I got way too many of those. I never learned how to stop and moderate drinking once I start. I'll tell myself I'll just have a beer or two for dinner, then end up going through an entire 12-pack, then to save money, I'll switch and drink an entire small bottle of cheap whiskey, then now I'm really having a good time so I end up heading out to a bar and order Scotch with Jagermeister and tequila shots thrown in on the side, then by 4 AM in the morn, I'm starting to get a bit tired so I start ordering Jagerbombs with Red Bull and drink like 10 of those and zap myself awake again.
I just recently quit drinking alcohol completely in recent months since I figured I'll never get the hang of this after around 20 years of failing repeatedly to moderate my alcohol once I get started.
But I have so many of those. I've even woken up on a park bench in a completely different city around a 6-hour train ride from where I lived with no idea how I got there. Another involved waking up completely naked in a woman's bed with the reaction, "Wait, who are you? What happened?" I didn't even know if we had sex or if she undressed me and put me in her bed with her.
One of the scariest for me one time was that I woke up with loads of cash in my pocket in Roppongi with a very attractive Russian woman (I think she might have been a prostitute) wrapped around my arm (I actually somehow managed to black out while standing and walking with her). I have no idea how I got it since I couldn't have gotten it from the ATM as I didn't bring my ATM/credit cards with me that night and I only brought 10,000 yen for drinking. Yet I had over 80,000 yen (around $800 USD at the time) in my pocket when I came to in Roppongi. That was one of the freakiest incidents having no idea how I got so much money, like, "Did I rob somebody? WTF? Did someone pay me to have sex? Did someone just give me this much money as charity to some incredibly drunk guy?" What the hell? WHAT DID I DO?
Most of my biggest blackouts though came from spending time in Roppongi, and I was always drawn to the most underground bars and night clubs playing EDM music. Dancing after hours was illegal in Japan at the time but a lot of bars and clubs ignored the laws, but the police were especially harsh on cracking down on EDM clubs since they were associated the most with drug use.
So I had to go into really underground and shady nightclubs to find ones with EDM music in Roppongi, and most of those were run by Nigerian mafia. The Nigerian mafia were notorious for spiking the drinks of their customers to rob them, like this:
japantoday.com/.../u-s-embassy-warns-citizens-about-drink-spiking-in-roppongi
So I think most of these cases where I completely last memory of what happened or even lost consciousness while standing and walking were cases when my drink was spiked. I think I built enough of a resistance to the drugs they used spiking my drinks from repeated exposure to avoid getting robbed, but I still lost consciousness for good chunks of time.
You’re kidding right😳
Good you quit
No joke in my case, unfortunately. This was all in my early-mid 20s though. I stopped drinking like a complete lunatic by mid-20s or so, and after marriage with my wife, I just stopped going to nightclubs and rowdy bars completely.
After marriage, my worst cases of being drunk is like I had a few too many and wrote drunk posts on Reddit which embarrassed me to read back and engaged in belligerence with internet trolls. 😂 That's about the worst of being drunk after marriage.
Ok😁
I did actually get robbed and assaulted in my first few experiences with EDM clubs in Roppongi. One of them involved a time when I discovered a ~$4,000 USD charge on my credit card the following week even though I didn't give my credit card while conscious. The owners of the club must have reached into my pocket while I was passed out and used the card and put it back into my wallet. Thankfully the bank performed an investigation and traced down the bar and my report wasn't the only one about being exploited this way from the same bar, so they canceled the charges.
After that I just stopped bringing my ATM and credit cards with me on nights out. Then I still got robbed a few more times but I think I started to develop a resistance to whatever drug they used to spike my drinks. So I was able to stand and walk upright despite being heavily drugged, but I would lose my memory of what happened for hours; just completely blank pages in my memory.
Thankfully Japan is now becoming a lot safer for lovers of EDM. They finally started lifting the laws that made dancing illegal starting from 2016 and also made a big decision in 2020:

So it's no longer so dangerous as these illegal and underground EDM clubs are shutting down and new, legal, safe ones are becoming more available.
nope... fortunately

Alcoholism is a condition which has devastating consequences for those involved with the alcoholic and it should not be treated as a joke.
I've gotten shitfaced many times and even to the point of lying in my own puke once, but I've never once blacked out and forgotten stuff. And I've always been in my right mind and very aware of what I'm doing. Just with less coordination 😂
That's why I've never related with people that say they blacked out and forgot stuff. I've also never understood people that say "I'm drunk" as an excuse that they cheated on that day, because I've literally always known what I was doing and saying in those moments. I feel like too many people lie nowadays.
No, black out happens for some people
Oh I'm aware that blackouts happen. People are sent to the hospitals for it. But I think a lot of people lie about not knowing what they did when they were drunk.
Yeah, you are right, liars will use it as an excuse🙂
i didn't have a full day/evening memory loss. but i did drink so much once that i have flaky memory of the evening.
there was a funny story. i did remember i talked to 2 girls at the bar in a club. i forgot why or what it was about. i remembered that i was about to get a round of beer for my bros.
next day my bros asked me why i didn't hook up with these girls xD they told me they saw from across the room that 2 girls approaching me and hitting on me but i was so drunk, i had tunnel vision on getting beer for my friends so i didn't even take note of it. my firends told me they just heard me yelling "ok see you, girls", picking up the beer that was just put in front of me and returning to my friends with the beer and as if i wasn't just hit on xD
Lol😁
xD apparently i don't even need others to cock block myself when i'm drunk :D
I lost 3 days in Glasgow, can’t remember anything, me and a mate woke up at this house, there had been a party and we had also picked up some girls. About a month later we were in a bar and the barmaid was going on about how crazy we were, we did not know her lol, seems we had been in that bar before the party.
So, you lived the movie😁
Well without any tigers or boxers. I don’t think you would get one in Glasgow
Many years ago, when I was much younger, my work group celebrated a major success with dinner and drinks at a local restaurant. I drank way too much. The next morning, when I woke up, I could not remember driving home.
That scared the shit out of me. I could've killed myself and others.
That was the last time I ever got drunk.
I still drink... in moderation.
Yeah, that’s really scary😳
I wouldn't say the whole day, definitely not as bad as the movie but yes I have forgotten part of the night. I don't like it honestly what is the point if I can't remember.
Right🙂
Never, only been 'drunk' once in my life... won't ever do that again in this life!
👍🏻👍🏻
I've still never been drunk.
Yes, I have woke up not remembering where I left my car
Ok😁
More than once! And not funny ones like in movies. More like "shit I did that?"
Ok😁
Lol! Did a strip dance on a bar once infront of my ex. Woke up in a ditch once didn't know why. Woke up stuck in my own window once... lmao
That’s hilarious😁🥰
The love emoji by mistake
Sure sure 😘
No, for real 😁😁😁
Lol! Just messing with ya! Or am I? 😅🥸
Never. I don’t like the feeling of being drunk. On top of that, I don’t like the taste of many alcoholic beverages.
When I was younger I was a dumbass and overdid it a couple times before I said no more and learned my lesson.
But Do Recall Driving and Losing My Glasses. lol!!! xxoo
No... I'm only 18 and have limited access to alcohol. I have gotten buzzed a few times but never drunk. I have no desire to really
No, I don't drink alcohol, that stuff is for losers.
I never drink to that point
few sips or none
Actually never I've always managed to remember. Although it is always beer I have. I'm sure spirits would ruin me
Yes lol I made out with an exs “enemy” and almost fucked him. Luckily I didn’t and the ex at the time was a douchebag.
Yes, Just once. 20 years ago. Once was enough. I have never been drunk since.
Yes I have blacked out parts of the night before
Have you?
I don’t drink, never been drunk🙂
Ahh, then you haven’t known what it feels like
No, that's why I mentioned the movie, because I saw what happened in the movie
It’s a great feeling to have a night where you can drink and party with friends. As long as it’s planned and you are safe then recovering the next day may be part of the plan.
Have you have been invited on that kinda party?
Yeah, but I drink either juice or milk😁😁
Gotcha. So you didn’t feel as good as the people who got buzzed
No, i don’t think I would like the feeling of losing control
I didn’t think so as well, until I tried. As I said have trusted friends around and then losing control allows you to let go
Nope, it is also unhealthy
Yes, repeatedly getting drunk is unhealthy. Having a party one time and feeling that escape is healthy
I enjoyed partying without drinking alcohol before
I did as well
👍🏻👍🏻
No, because I've never been drunk before.
Only the time some asshole roofied me.
No and I don't understand how that is possible.
I haven't 🥲
