Scientists already have the answer to whether or not ghosts exist, the answer is no, they do not.
We know this because we confirmed the nervous system is required to think.
When damaged, it results in things like dementia and other mental capability deficits.
If ghosts/souls existed, your soul would be enough to think with, making the nervous system not only pointless, but it would make degenerative brain diseases impossible.

Ghosts, I agree. There are, however, many verified accounts of multiple people simultaneously seeing the same thing at the same time which was not a simple hallucination as there's no way to have a hallucination that multiple people shared. Dementia cannot explain all these issues.

If the universe is infinite. Within that scope it's simply impossible for science to ever explain absolutely everything. If it isn't, then there's no purpose to life - but if that were the case then our intellect would not be sufficient to realise that.

There is no purpose to anything, purpose is a trap, it keeps you from changing your mind or preferences or having variety. Life is about adaption, variation, chaos, and pleasure, not purpose.

Science is able to explain everything that is explainable, but there will always be things that aren't explainable, because sensory organs need limits in order to discern things (for example if you saw all lightwaves at once it would be literally blinding, just a void with no way to parse any object into view), and because being everywhere at once is impossible.

Things like souls/ghosts/demons/afterlifes/gods, etc however are easily disproven.

Ok, start with something simple...

Explain morality. There are some things that we simply "know" are wrong. Every culture at every time in known history share certain moral absolutes.

The most violent societies in history that included human sacrifice as part of their "religion" still punished murderers for murder. It's an absolute.

We cannot say with absolute certainty that something is morally wrong if we don't have an inherent concept of what "right" is.

For illusions to work the individuals must share a common concept of what the illusion actually is. Many recorded cases of these "illusions" include accounts described by people who were proven to have no prior knowledge of what they reported seeing.

Something less straightforward...

I died in 2020. Full cardiac and respiratory arrest for four hours. During that time, ICU staff performed CPR on me. They kept going despite Time of Death normally being called after ten minutes. Not one of the team suggested it. The team leader told me he could hear - literally - someone saying "keep going, he's going to make it". The whole team reported the same thing, but nobody can identify the voice.

After 15 minutes CPR, even performed perfectly, issues surrounding oxygen deprivation should begin because even the best team cannot perform CPR to perfectly pump sufficient oxygen around the body. The brain is the first organ to suffer hypoxia. Beyond 15 minutes the damage is irreversible.

Kidneys are next.

My kidney function dropped to an eGFR of 1% function BEFORE I died.

After four hours my heart started beating on its own. I woke up two weeks later. Scans - plural - show no damage to my brain at all. No bruising to my heart from basically being beaten for four hours.

My Nephrologist calls me "Lazarus". He's been practicing around 25 years and has never seen someone recover 40% function from 1%. It doesn't happen.

And just for the record, what I believe is my Purpose is the source of how I'm capable of adaptation and variation. I don't believe anyone who claims they only seek pleasure. I've never met a single person THAT selfish. And I've worked with addicts.

Addicts break the cycle by recognising they have a purpose beyond seeking "pleasure". That purpose results in adapting, varying and creating chaos to disrupt the destructive behaviour only seeking pleasure creates.

It's impossible to live without purpose.
