A septic system IS plumbing. It's just decentralized instead of a centralized system. Centralized systems are only feasible in populated areas. Have you ever seen a waste water treatment plant in a small town or rural areas?

It works in much the same was as a centralized system. The waste is broken down naturally. It's basically a compost. It gets turned into topsoil and clean water.

If you live someplace with a septic system you won't even know it unless somebody tells you. It's actually an advancing technology.
