Did you cry before because a video or movie?

Sometimes when I watch a movie I want to cry, but I don't,

except for one time. I cried because the movie was really sad.

A while ago, i was in bar (relax bar not like others bars lowd music... Must customer they old people)
I watched a video about a father whose his daughter waits for him every day when he come back from work

. I wanted to hold back my tears, but I couldn’t, i was crying and it seemed very strange, especially the last time I cried was 6 years ago.

Very rarely, but not because I'm less emotional. I'm actually pretty emotional for a guy.

It's because I'm incapable of immersing myself so deeply in a film. There's always a very conscious part the whole time I'm watching it knowing that I'm just watching a film. None of this really happened.

I never find any horror film scary for the same reason. I've found some disturbing in their ideas and imagery, but not scary. To find something in a film scary, I think we have to sort of believe that it's actually happening. I'm unable to immerse myself that deeply, but I can be disturbed by the ideas introduced in a film and reflect on it and think, "Wow, that's really messed up."

The few films that make me cry don't do so because I believe what's actually happening to the characters. It's because I've known something that happened in my personal life.

A prime example is Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the Fireflies). My father went through a very similar experience in the Shizuoka fire bombings and the extreme famine that followed, and actually lost his little sister who died in his arms to shock and malnutrition. So that touched something deep and personal for me even though the film is just a cartoon and so obviously fiction.

But other movies i never cry because i know this thing happened only in movie not in real life

For sure! My wife actually cries so easily but she immerses herself in the films much better than I can.

Not like a full cry but the movie reminiscence definitely gave me a couple tears ngl.

I cry all the time! About a week ago, I was watching Little House on the Prairie, it was an episode when Laura’s dog died. I cried all day!

Nope. I just think to myself, "that's sad"
