Did anyone else feel really strange when the eclipse happened?

Definitely will be remembered as one of the trippiest days of my life lmao. But when the sunlight started fading I started feeling lightheaded and just like I needed to sit down. I was sitting on a metal bench outside at my cousin’s cabin and it’s out by a small lake so it’s kind of in the woods. All the animals stopped making noises and the crickets started chirping. My little dog was laying beside me on the bench and he was acting very strangely. He was licking and biting the metal on the bench. So yeah… I can definitely see how people of ancient civilizations thought some crazy shit was happening like the world was ending. 💀

Yes. I saw the eclipse at a friend's "farm" in Puxico, Missouri and it was clear out. It was eerie as we neared totality and it began to get dark. Automatic lights came one. The animals went quiet except for a baby sheep wanting to be bottle-fed. At the moment of totality, neighbors shouted out and then there was complete silence except for that sheep. I wanted to cry because I wanted to see this for over 50 years and I missed the one 7 years ago and I LIVED IN THE ZONE OF TOTALITY but had to work 1200 miles away. The bright sun hidden behind the moon was unnatural in a way. A perfect black circle surrounded by light. Pictures and video do not do it justice. And the size across and directly above us was as if the eclipse was the pupil of God's eye looking down on us. For me, this was a religious experience. I drove home in silence and teared up or cried a few times. Then I got stuck in traffic and became my normal grumpy self again; it took me 2.5 hours to get to the farm but 5 hours to get home.

Oh yes, I felt a few things during the eclipse’s totality, that were very powerful. Physically, like you, I also felt light-headed and a bit disoriented. It seemed like everything went quiet (people, animals, passing vehicles). Thought it was just the disorientation, but then was told I didn’t imagine it. Emotionally, I felt an intense and fast wave of joy. The intensity of joy was up there with the happiest moments in my life (getting married, seeing my first child born). Immediately after that, I just felt very calm and unusually relaxed for the rest of the totality. It was the wildest 3 minutes I’ve experienced in a very long time.

We have a bird feeder in our yard that many birds frequent. We have to refill it every other day. Just before the eclipse started (in our area, only 80% coverage), there were two birds eating. Then, no birds until two+ hours later, after the eclipse totally ended, when a bunch of birds came to the feeder, fighting each other for a morsel of food.

Yes everyone at work got quiet. People sat in their cubicles and watched the eclipse on their computers. It was pretty strange

Yeah, I noticed the birds and other animals started acting strange like it was evening at 3PM. Then I realized that animals are not that sophisticated after all and are all kind of dumb because they didn’t even watch or know there was an eclipse.

What also threw me off, is the birds stopped singing during the eclipse and then started singing more loudly again directly after the eclipse. It was like they had been fooled into thinking another evening had passed midday during the eclipse and they woke again to start calling all their friends.
