When I get into a tense situation, I don't think of any way out. But after the work is done, an idea comes to my mind, but it's too late. How can I get out of this situation please advise
Here are some tips for getting out of tense situations:
- Remain calm. Don't let your emotions escalate the situation. Take deep breaths if needed.
- Look for an excuse to remove yourself. Say you need to use the bathroom, get some air, take an important call, etc. Buy yourself time to de-escalate.
- Defuse with humor if you can. Lightening the mood may relieve some tension.
- Redirect the topic to something more positive everyone can agree on. Change the subject.
- Compromise if there's disagreement. Find common ground both sides can accept to resolve issues.
- Leave room for "let me think about it". Don't feel forced to decide right then if you're stressed.
- Have an exit strategy ready like a friend to call as back up if you need rescued.
- Remove yourself physically if all else fails. You can always bow out of escalating situations and that's okay.
Next time tense things start, scan the room for options while also listening to understand all sides. You've got this! Staying calm and looking for the "out" will serve you well.

One idea I have based on the question is breathe. Getting into a tense situation our bodies will freeze up and we actually supply less oxygen to the brain. If you can remember to slow down and take some big breaths, in and out fully it allows your brain to calm down a bit and maybe you can think more clearly.
Ever tried this?
Stress often makes thinking difficult. Its like your brain is stuck in the mud. I have been in many very stressful situations in my life and have learned to train myself to first recognize I am under stress , do nothing, take a few deep breaths and relax my body then methodically start dealing with the issue. Asking for help is never a bad thing either. Two brains are usually better than one. Over time it begins to come naturally. The key is identifying what causes you stress.
