Do you ever plan on changing your name?

Legally changing your name, I heard it's a lot easier than it sounds, I wonder if anyone has changed their name legally, have any of you? 🤔

There's a professor at the college I went to who could more or less attest to this. Apparently (at least in the state he lives in), all you have to to is just introduce yourself as the name you want to change it to for 30 consecutive days, then go to the DMV and Social Security office, tell them your "name", fill our some paperwork, and boom, you're done.

He asked the DMV "So you mean to tell me that if I want to legally change my name to 'Gondor, Slayer of Thousands', all I have to do is, for a month, tell people that's what my name is, then come back here and sign a piece of paper, and it is so?"

My family is of Italian decent. My family name as a beautiful Italian name, the kind with lots of vowels. My father shortened it and it just sounds generic which I guess was the idea. When I was going to get married I thought about changiong it back. I did not but now I wish I did.

My name has been changed…at the end of the day…all official documents has to aligned otherwise there will be headaches dealing with travel, work, government, tax…etc.

Yeah, when we came to American they change my name and my sisters name. When I got married I changed my last name.

I did after I got married. It was pretty easy, and I would assume the process for changing a first name wouldn't be much different.

I think getting married has kinda like an automatic system or something and it's done for you but if you do it on your own I think it's a different process but I don't know, just an assumption lol

I don't think so for the social security, and I think the fee for the drivers license change was only like 4 bucks

No, but that fee varies by state I believe. Some states do it for free and some charge quite a bit

he was always called by his middle name and not his first name

so he swapped them around
