Why? Why are you a slob?
1 yNo, I am not a slob. However, I am in a season of life where things are in upheaval and that's life. When you marry someone with a lot of interests, have kids, move multiple times, have an autoimmune disease that crops up at the worst possible times, deal with the loss of a spouse and move again, sometimes things aren't perfect. But what's important is how we handle things not being perfect.
I am extremely good at organizing, editing and making spaces efficient. I love the feeling of a clean and orderly space. But it was important for me as a person to learn how to handle the stress of mess, because I would be an unbearable person if my happiness was defined solely by whether or not I had KonMaried my laundry that day. I like things in order, but I also like my home to be peaceful. Sometimes we have to choose between cleaning and tidiness, and connection and relationships. My kids need to trust that I am not going to turn into She-Hulk because they tracked in some mud from playing outside. They need to witness me kneeling down with them, and saying, "It's OK, everyone makes a mess of things sometimes. Let's clean it up together". Or even saying, "Let's leave that for a minute and get you cleaned up first".
If you came to my home right now, you would see a work in progress and some unfinished things from a recent renovation. You'd probably say it was messy. But you would be welcomed in, no matter how last-minute or inconvenient, because you're more important than my house being show-ready. And, I can always put you to work on something! :D

1 yA slob is somebody who makes a mess. I'm not a slob but this is the reason why people are slobs is because sloppiness might be an indicator of emotional distress. Like someone with OCD who feels they need to micromanage every aspect of their life, someone who is chronically disorganized may suffer from depression or another mental health condition.

1 yOne of the unfortunate things about life, if you can call it unfortunate, is that it is not neat and organized. In fact for the most part it is chaos. For those of us who like the feeling of being in control in a neat and organized environment, dealing with the chaos around us can be quite unsettling.
One of the best gifts you can give yourself is to learn how to be happy and comfortable even in the most chaotic environment because that is the environment you will be in the rest of your life.

1 yDue to aging, I'm not proud of the tired, lazier person I've become since taking on full time work into ongoing my 30s like anyone else. If I had a choice, I'd have preferred to be like the opposite of those rich folks who retire early and live off wealth or interest. That's why I've always voted for leftwing parties. .
I just want my lazy socialism humbleness of "only people who want to work have to work or should work" lol 😔😆 so yes I'm a slob in many ways, yet a clean and germ freak01 Reply- 1 y
Hygiene and standards do exist with me. I just find it annoying how capitalism world's dictate that everyone must work and work full time mostly lol everyone must contribute to society. Uh duh, what about robotic and automation. Let the robots fill the void while I be lazy on my inflatable and sip soda ๐ฅค๐ ๐ on my mansion pool deck lol ๐

Not at all. Donโt get me wrong my crafts can end up looking a mess when Iโm cutting fabrics or working with clay and so on but I clean after and nothing sits longer than two days.
My closest is clean as too, I hate a messy closet.

1 yI'd say I can be messy. I generally have organized piles of clothes all over my room. But I clean up and fold everything once in a while. When I put the dishes away, everything is in color order as well as size order, so I'm pretty particular about that. I don't often sweep or vaccum unless there's people coming over or some pretty obvious stains or crap on the floor.
I'm honestly just lazy, but I definitely prefer some kind of order and neatness. Not just shit everywhere lol00 Reply

1 yHearing that term makes me want to choose violence. My dad is a neat freak (🙄). Therefore, anything below his standard of clean or neat, is sloppy. Anyway, Iโm not a neat freak, but Iโm not a slob either. I do my best.
10 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Other topic. Sort of. Time constraints have me prioritizing immediate speed over long term efficiency so I tend to set things down wherever I last used them.
