This model type was patented in 1959 with a bare ring, and later the ring was modified with the names of the Mercury Seven astronauts. That made them historically significant and coveted by at least 8 prominent American museums. airandspace.si.edu/.../search

Yeah it looks interesting and figured it was antique but in good shape

After discovering a different model type in antique store, I began to research them.
Part of my research was searching for and buying them. I'd try to buy only those in the best of condition.
