Gelato looks like someone took a shit on the cone!
Gelato is frozen custard, not ice cream. Here in the States, anyway; I think it Italy, the word just refers to any part of that dessert family.
Icecream is made with more cream, gelato is moremilk based and contains less air. In practice gelato is often sold as Icecream
Gelato has a lower milk fat content than ice cream
