Ok let's see. The most common use for bending materials to one's will would be for car repairs, so I'm going with metal (seeing as metals are elements on the periodic table,) as long as it can include aluminium! seeing as that is technically a metal, as is gold, platinum and silver

For me it'd definitely be air. I'd be more agile, potentially fly in the sky depending on my mastery of the element, and come on... other than blood bending (water), what would be deadlier than creating a vacuum around your opponent; sucking the air from right out of their lungs? Plus I wouldn't have to worry about days being too windy or on days where it's too hot, I could always just make gentle breezes of my own.
