What should a person do when the run over a dog?

I never ran over a dog but today the car in front of me hit a husky dog. I did see him fall and i did hear him scream a little bit but he stood up and ran off. The owners were not in sight and the lady that hit him drove away. What would you do if you hit a dog?

When I was a kid the person in front of us hit a dog and ran off just like that. We pulled over and picked up the dog and put him in the back of the truck and took it to our vet. Our vet stabilized the dog and contacted the owner. The dog survived and the owner was happy that someone did something to save their dog and they paid all the vet bills. That said, that was a different time. Today it seems like if you even go to a doctors office, they want your id and a credit card before they will even agree to see you even if you are bleeding out in the lobby.

If it ran away don't do anything. It may b illegal 2 let your dog out n run around ( leash laws). If it's hurt bad, can't walk try 2 get it out of traffic but b warned it may try 2 bite.

Then call 911 n tell them u need the shelter. A guy did this 4 a pup in the cold. I did this 4 a cat that someone ran ovr n still movin. They came n took its dead body.

If it's injured I'd snap it's neck to put it out of it's misery then sue the owners for damage to the car and mental stress

Why? if you read the entire post i never hit the dog it was the lady in front of me. I am actually lucky it wasn't me because i could have damaged my car too i got extremely lucky if was the lady in front of me.
