The kid is 20 now so this would have happened as much as 8 years ago before Elon got into politics much, and as Elon explains it feeling betrayed by the bad advice of the doctors but blames himself for not doing the research at the time.

This is probably one of the main reasons Elon shifted to the right since. Elon may never forgive himself for letting this happen to his son. He just trusted the 'doctor' in California, and only later found out it was all nonsense.
He provably feels terrible about it and that is a major personal motivator for him doing what he is doing.

Just this past week I heard that the CDC stated that puberty blockers cause depression and a higher rate of suicidal tendencies…. But they still approve of its use in transitioning children.

I know quite a few trans women that are QUITE happy with their decision but, I also knew one guy that got a sex change in his late 20's, I think (he did it years before I met him), and then decided it wasn't what he wanted. He went back to being a guy and wore very loose fitting shirts so nobody could see that he had tits. Even though I knew, he even hid them from me. I don't know for sure that he knew that I knew. About 20 or 30 years later, he had his tits removed and about another 5 or 10 years later, he died. He was a heavy smoker.
