Do you let people drive your car?

Only my wife if she needs it, because insurance follows the car, not the driver. Their insurance would not cover damage to my car. If someone damages my car, my insurance has to pay for it and my rates increase. If they get injured, my insurance has to pay for that, too.
My wife and I both have the same insurance company and we're both insured to drive each other's cars. She's a good driver and I have no problem being responsible for any incident that she might get involved in. But I don't want to be liable for anyone else.
It happens. My assistant was driving my other car for something like a week when her car was in the shop and she smoked my weed and left an iou paper in the jar.
I've had people drive my car while we were on set and maybe someone needed batteries or something miscellaneous. Or on the way to or from so I could be on the phone.
It's weird being in the passenger seat because you always feel like they're about to crash 😂
Yes, I know that feeling. Ha.
Just like I'm always welcome to drive his truck, my husband is welcome to drive my cars anytime he wants.
So are my dad, mom & brothers.
Some select few friends are also welcome to borrow my cars.
When I'd rather be driven so I can accomplish some other work tasks, I have a few employees who look like puppy dogs eagerly waiting for the keys to be handed to them.
That's funny. Haha
I can't parallel park too well, so if I'm with a friend and there's a reason we need that space, I'll hop out and let them do it. On a pretty rare basis if I've had a few drinks, I'll pass my keys to a sober friend to drive me home. Otherwise, I share the car with my husband, and that's about it.

Not generally, but i have loaned my car out a few times. There was also a time after a DUI that i rode to work with a friend who worked at the same place. He drove my car. Saving money on fuel and miles on his vehicle was incentive enough to do me that very solid favor.
Hummm... My current car, no one besides me ever has. Except employees at the dealership where I go for periodic maintenance. If someone asked to drive it, first of all I'd wonder why. If it was someone I knew well I might let them drive it, if it was for good reason.
The only people other than myself that have driven my car are my boyfriend, my dad and my brother. I worked hard to get this car and I'm very protective of it.
Good for you.
People in general no. But Iโve let my roommate drive my car, and my sister. But currently itโs acting up and I wonโt let any of my friends drive it because I refuse to risk their lives
Thoughtful. ๐ Hope it's an easy fix.
You sound a bit like me. I have a few things stacking up too. Brakes being most important..
If you have a friend thatโs a mechanic you can order breaks cheaper from rock auto. The sway bar and shocks as well as the radiator both need to be done in the shop so unfortunately my friend canโt do it for me. The turbo issue provided itโs what I think it is would be an easy enough fix but my friend canโt fix it right away and the part will take a couple weeks to get in which I donโt trust my car to last lol so again itโs going to be a rather expensive fix
I've been thinking about giving it a try myself. Thanks for the tip.
Have you thought about trading it?
Unfortunately itโs rebuild status so itโs not worth much. I did get an offer from the dealership for like $2k but considering I paid almost $6k and have put at least that into it Iโm going to finish fixing it up, and then when I can find a better job and afford a car payment Iโll try to sell it privately. I have all the paperwork in a neat folder so if I sell to someone else Iโll give that to them too.
Smart.
Nope, maybe my ex boyfriend once haha. But he prefer his mustang and I like his mustang better too 😂
Mustangs are nice. ๐
Nice ๐
No, but not because I don't trust anyone. I drive a car with a manual transmission. Most people my age and younger, my wife included have no idea how to drive it.
That's a shame. Automatic is so boring. Unless in a 4% grade is sloooow traffic. That was fun..
Oh God I hate being on a hill with mine.
I have been trying to teach my wife how to drive it with out much success.
She'll reach a moment it just clicks and you stop thinking about it. Second nature.
Yup I agree
I love mine. My wife has the exact same car only automatic, different color too, and mine gets up and goes way faster than hers does.
@spartan55 I couldn't be without one. I tried. I missed it too much. What would you get?
@worldscolide I love that about manual. Better on gas too or not. ๐
@spartan55 Both cars are sweet in their own ways. I hope you make the leap. I know someone who just bought a bmw bike he flew to a shop for and rode home.
Not currently but yes, when I had my other car I would let people I know or sort of know or strangers drive it if they needed help. I would let people I didn't like if they were in trouble but this year I'm older and colder so no.
Not really. If something were to happen to it, I would likely be a little pissed even if it wasn't their fault. Not from a blame perspective but from the perspective of how long it could take in the shop, do I need to rent a vehicle, etc.
I do, but always have a trusted friend supervising.
Probably smart
No. I'd let my bestfriend if he needed to for some reason, but that's the only I could see myself letting someone drive my car.
*eh hem*
@dustybiker2 the "he" was supposed to be "she" I just forgot the S.. ๐ฌ
@miah04 ๐ถ
Damn typos.
@Miah04 I feel so much better now
@Miah04 maybe she wants to be a dude
@Miah04 ๐
How did the bottom fall out of this? And gag didn't even notify me.
@Miah04 Sounds about right
Only my mechanic drives my vehicles. I don't even use valet parking when I go out
Same here
Depends on the person. Stranger.. never. My family or best friend, sure, if it is necessary. Not just for a joy ride.
Yeah anyone brave enough to drive that rust bucket may do so.

Yes, I often loan my car to others. Most commonly, when family members from out of town visit, they often use my car. Of course, my wife occasionally drives it, though she doesn't like it. She rarely lets me drive her car. 🙄
I did, a year ago, because I don't have a license and I didn't think I could squeeze it into the garage. He was barely able to, too!
I don't have a car but if I DID have a car, the answer would be no lol
I would let my best friend if she needed to, but she never has.
My partners yes friends especially if itโs long drive. We share driving duty.
My brother... We own some land together and swap vehicles all the time need dependent.
I don't have a car, but it wouldn't be a problem for me to let my friends or family to drive it if they really need the car.
Only my parents
Bet your brother is rubbing his hands together for the keys. My mum used to let us circle parking lots. I think I was seven or eight.
Hahaha He's a sweet baby still.
Sorry but no one drives my car but me. I worked to hard to let someone else abuse it
No. It has a manual transmission that most people cannot drive properly.
Very special people only
One of your kids is old enough to drive, yes?
Hell no , apart from my lady of course
I have driver, so yes 😂
Not that rich, just itโs common in my country. Some people even have 3 or 4 maid.
Only my husband and mechanic
Nope. Not worth it.
Nope. Itโs not on my insurance plan.
Don't have what I can't give lol 😭😆
No, just my wife.
Never
Yea my family
i dont
Rarely. TBH, Iโve never had a friend ask.
No, I never have.
Yes.
All the time
