No I don't. Kids I knew at nursery school who were little shits all grew up to be big shits as adults. As for old people they just express their true personality more freely. A grumpy old fart has been that way all their lives but now they can't be arsed to hide it.
Agreed
haha, a very visual and practical example lol
My whole family looks older but is still exactly the same as always and thinks they are still young 😂
Yup. People don't change 😅

I have this blurry sentiment that it is impossible to change the core of who we are, the sentiment that the core has been built during childhood and nothing can touch it. I have nothing of statistical nature to back up this sentiment, and even if I had I would probably question the philosophical legitimacy (and the political motives) of a science wanting to objectify internal psychology.
Having said that, what is the core, can it be defined, who is the judge here, and what instruments this judge is using?
People can change with willfully being open minded to do so. Can be less bitter, less bigoted, less narrow minded, and thus more positive, more open minded, more positive & welcoming of new ideas / experiences even when it goes against old ideas and intuition.
This is just an example of it.
I wasn't talking about minor aspects. I was talking about at their core.
@HawkPerception People can be bigoted, hateful, vile, and abusive at their core and change with time though will admit rare. I do have hope though.
My personal opinion is people only change at their core through traumatic experiences
@HawkPerception Agreed.
Their core self! No they can change beliefs and values.
They will always act like themselves always laugh at the same jokes or cry when that commercial comes on.
Personality never changes
I don’t think people change. Looks might. Hobbies might. Actions might as they may begin to think before acting. But in my opinion, mindset rarely changes. You see a persons true mindset within anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months of knowing them. And from there it no longer fluctuates. Those true colors stay revealed
Aww, what a sad pic... I wonder if that happens to all of us, though. Hmm.
No, I don't think CORE values and characteristics change. Some small aspects change or improve as we mature (eg, math or language skills) and we build better habits as we mature (eg, hygiene, manners, etc.), but a person's heart and soul don't change.
No. I see the same traits in my children I saw when they were 5 or 6. That helps me recognise that I've kept the same traits from when I was that age.
What makes me happy is that my children have found places for their personalities in adulthood that are giving them pleasure.
I think it's possible, but very rare that it actually happens.
I don't think so, people grow up as a product of there homelife and choices they make along the way, and I think between those things their core never really changes much.
I believe that people can grow & change their thoughts and views.
I don’t really know what changing at the core means I guess
The "core" refers to someone's inherent nature. How they're wired to react to specific scenarios in specific ways in their life.
Yes people can change thoughts and views if enough evidence is given to persuade them, but their inherent nature is generally consistent and their thoughts and views are literally dependent on that inherently nature/way they're wired.
Yes. I've witnessed this. But it seems kind of rare.
Some do. Raul Ries, for example:
Well yeah as we get older our brains change and can become more angry rather than the person we were
Depends, some people can change, some people can't or won't.
Only if they want to.
