How are Millennials and Us Gen Z alike?

Question

There’s no way Gen X and Millennials are because most of them were born in the late 60s, 70s or very early 1980 I think. I think someone born in 1979, there generation is different than someone born in 1989.
I hear some millennials talk trash about our generation but heir generation is just as bad as us Gen Z.
I think my generation is differently from millennials because I was born in 1999.

As a Millennial, I think Gen Z was raised on devices and has a very high risk aversion based on more helicopter parenting. We later generations inherited tons of debt by the boomer generation that did nothing but ruin our society and jack up real estate prices and other assets through runaway inflation. They grew up with the threat of the bomb and the introduction of TV. They were highly susceptible to propaganda and groupthink. They refuse to give up political power and think about worldview through the Cold War, WWII and the Nazis. They will continue to spend us into oblivion, their hedonism and lack of saving will leave their progeny penniless, even though they grew up as a group with the most economic prosperity in history.

We don't share the same slang, but I think Millennials and Gen Z have more in common than with the Boomers.

Gen X here. HS teacher. I've taught all of Gen Z and half of Gen Alpha. With a VERY LARGE BRUSH gen Z & gen Alpha can be self indulgent and expect everything to be given to them. They want answers, not research. They can be undisciplined and flighty. Their interpersonal relationships are for shit cuz of phones. They mature late but do grow up and are impressive when they do finally grow up in their mid late 20s.

The idea of separation from age is a load of shit anyway. There isn’t really much difference at all based on when you were born but more in how you were raised. There isn’t much difference between millennials and Gen z in regard to comfortability with technology and feeling like the world blames you for all its problems and financial recessions. But whereas millennials internalize a lot, gen z tends to externalize. When millennials receive criticism it can turn into “oh, there’s something wrong with me, I need to fix myself to be better because I’m so terrible.” And with Gen z it can turn into “oh, there’s something wrong with this person criticizing me.” That’s really the only thing I’ve noticed, and it’s honestly the same difference between gen x and baby boomers.

The oldest millennial is 43 and the youngest Gen Z is 12 so that's quite a difference. The youngest baby boomer is 60 so that's only 17 years away from the oldest millennial.
