On a clear night maybe. I’ve seen them in my backyard when I lived in NJ. I could see the Big Dipper all the time in the fall. But the most I ever felt closer to the sky and where it was so dark you could see many stars clearly, was in a mountain village in Spain. There was no pollution nor lights anywhere except for the bar place there on the other side of the village. Just clusters of homes on one side, a tiny church in the middle, the cemetery or family plots, and another cluster of homes on the other side. The silence there was also something else at night—- it was deafening. It hummed in your ears. The summer population was 80 . This is the town my father in law was born.

In NJ you can see some of them. But I'll never forget driving up to NY state one night and my friend pointed at the sky, when I looked up there were so many stars I got dizzy and fell on my ass 😂

And people were telling me it's not even as many as I'd see if I was further away from city lights. Which is nuts
