Do Look Up At The Night Sky?

Question

If you haven't looked up at the night sky, it's worth doing so.

I think winter is the best time to view the night sky because it is darker, and there's more to see.

I just had a sky wall chart that I studied before I went outside, a planisphere, a torch, and a clear sky.

Orion is easy to find, and Ursula Major, and then I search to find the planets, apparently a few of them tonight are lined up in an arc.

Some nights there are meteor showers, and sometimes I try to see the space station, so it's worth a hour just to gaze at the stars.

What is your opinion?

My late boyfriend had a passion for astronomy and everything about our universe.
I have a huge balcony and it allowed us to have a pretty good view of the night sky.
When we were falling in love, we used to go out on the balcony together. He would stand behind me, with his arms on my waist (I loved that!!), and he would point out what everything that was visible and tell me what it was.

Wonderful memories of sharing the night 🌃 sky with him.❤️

Orion is great. Lots of interesting things in there (cue Beetlejuice). ;- ) Go to the west a bit and you can also see Pleiades/ Seven Sisters / Messier 45, and actually one of the nearest star cluster to the Earth. (It's also part of the Suburu car logo, just short of the faint star.). This is a good test of the light gathering power of your scope/binos.

I enjoyed gazing at the stars when I was younger and I would drive to a park in a rural area where there was a minimum of ambient lighting. Now, I live in the suburbs and the view of the sky is not as spectacular.

I do on occasion. I remember it was a nervous thing when I first started dating my boyfriend. He’d walk me to my building and I’d look up nervously wondering if he was going to kiss me or what. Total dork move.

When I was young, and there was no body lived close to me, I could outside with my dad and look at the night sky. Then some housing developments went in around our farm. The lights polluted the sky so bad that you couldn't hardly see the stars! Now I live in the city limits, and light pollution is even worse.

When it's a clear night, which where I live usually means a windy day and night. Sadly, it's hard to get away from the city lights and find a spot where you have an ample view and sufficient darkness.
