Did you move to a new place? I'm in Australia, so nothing will be the same, but I did establish insurance companies maintain a bad risk address database. It is perfectly possible to move and for you to end up paying for someone else car wreck here.
We have 6 underwriters but many more insurance brands. You might get three quotes from three different brands but in fact get the one quote from the same underwriter three times. They are not very subtle - generally they just change web site color schemes & logo and the questions they ask are the same
If you have an accident, immediately change brand & underwriter. Sometimes it is enough to change brands if they don't share the claims database.
The whole art is to find an underwriter that is either dumb or smart in a way that advantages you.
I usually spend an entire weekend getting online quote after online quote but always complete over phone because I can chat the girl up and hit her up for a discount. They have discretionary discount somewhere between 100-200$ so be nice to the chick.
My wife and I each have our own car, and we pay just over $2000 per year for insurance; it's bundled with our home insurance. The cars are older. I have a spotless driving record; she has only one one recent accident that was not her fault.

It's currently about $280 USD a year. There are some things on that policy that I'd like to take off so it will be a little cheaper.

I pay about $ 86 a month with full coverage and collision
$2600 for the year for 3 cars with no accidents ever or speeding in over a decade plus it's a joint policy with homeowners
Yikes! I pay less than half that for an Escalade with full coverage, roadside, rental if an accident, and max liability coverage. $234/Month.
