Trending & News My "U" doesn't exist in English lol, so I can't spell it
But let's try:
A as in Track
Lu as in I don't know how to spell it, unless you know the german Ü
Miñ with that Spanish ñ indeed
Om as in Ominous
So how do you say you
I say it you, like you
In fact, we have the sound OU, but your sound U is OU soooo that's my problem lol, since U on my end is not spoken OU, but U instead
Let's not try to go deeper, technology exists to hear sounds:
translate.google.com/
Not quite. Go online and look for a pronunciation aid and you can hear it said out loud. lol
What part of France do you live in? Not near where I live.
@Old_Plastic_Crow Nantes. And I think the whole problem just lies in how writing pronunciation is misleading unless using international phonetics no one understands lol
ALE—EOU—MINI—EM… I am American born and raised, however my daughter was raised and lives primarily in NSW, Australia. it’s kind of crazy that this question is being asked haha! My daughter and I have a little gamewe have always played where she would try and put on an American accent for the day and I would attempt (and butcher) an Australian accent, one of the most exaggerated and funny ones we’re always:
naurrr (no) 🤣
tou—maa-taur,(tomato)
wau—téh (water)
ALE—EOU—MINI—EM …. (Aluminum)
anyhow… this was so fun to recollect haha thanks for the question haha!
Aluminium because that is how it sounds in Greek too. So I pronounce it aluminium mindlessly.
So the US just decided to take away the i at the end like "eh too many "I" lets take one away" now we are all just like aLuMinUm heehee
I say the ending in English, like i hear it in American language "num".
A doubt is the first part "a-loom" or "a- lyoom" i heard both , and the vowel pattern is lyoom, but the correct way is only "uh- loom - in - um" because that is the common way people say it.

I just call it foil 🤷♀️
In german you say aluminium and you also write it that way. I think some people just got lazy over time and left out the second i :P
Some might confuse it for another metal lol
See the subheadings of Etymology/Spelling in this linked article for an in-depth explanation of the history of the naming of this particular element.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminium#
It should be "aluminium" if were we consistent, but in the USA we use "aluminum." We just like being contrarian for no good reason sometimes.
But it's spelled without the extra i tho lol
I say the first way. There’re online pronunciation aids, which I frequently use for new words I come across.
It's spelling, not just pronunciation.
Both are correct. Aluminium is consistent with other elements like potassium, sodium, etc. and is the way most of the world spells it. Americans changed it to aluminum in World War I.
Just like it is spelled in the U. S. - alum'inum.
The British spell it "aluminium" with an extra vowel and pronounce it æl-you-min'eeum.
The second one is how it’s said in all the languages I speak outside of English but I do adapt based on what language im using so both work
The majority of English speaking countries use the Former, It is the North Americans especially the Americans who use the Latter, though in some areas of Canada use the Former.
Aluminio is the proper way... periodt
