Dunedin Airport in New Zealand has instituted a policy that limits good-bye hugs to 3 minutes, in order to help with traffic control, and has put up signs defining that.

Experts say that a 20-second hug is long enough for the body to release happy endorphins.

I think the signs are not just about hugging, but meant to encourage traffic flow. At airports it’s all about not delaying when dropping off and picking up people. I’ve been many times to pick up someone and had to circle and come back because they were not at the curb yet

I heard this story on the radio this morning as i was driving to work. It may seem a bit draconian but I’m sure there were a series of situations which led to the adoption of this rule. However, for me, three minutes is more than adequate.
