There's so many train enthusiasts world wide there's youtube channels where people just go on train rides through switzerland and they have 300 k subscribers. And they're not watching for the view they actually review the train. Like how well are the seats padded, where are the power outlets they'll show a whole view of the train before they get in, they'll walk through the train to show everything they'll eat in the dining car they'll show the toilet if everything is clean and working well. Don't get me wrong I am grateful that we have reliable, spacious, clean trains but I never would spend my time going to a train station just to see a train I haven't seen before or something like that. I think in Japan there's the most train obsessed people if you get in the way of their picture they'll cuss you out which is almost like starting a physical fight for japanese standards. I also met an American train guy once online, he was so into it.
I think trains are great but for me they're just an everyday utility.
Were there people you met that loved something that you just thought was a normal thing?
