Why are so many people obsessed?

Why are people still talking about trump.. I don’t understand why so many people are obsessed with over him. It’s like people either won’t stop talking about him because they hate him or they won’t stop worshiping this man like he’s their cult leader.

I guess a better way of putting it is why do people hate each other over it. Like if I did or didn’t like him why should it matter if someone else does? We literally all have opinions…

Politics is always an irrational place. But he really is an anomaly in the system. People who came to the conclusion that voting no longer makes sense because all politicians push the same nonsense often changed their mind while he was president. Where there was apathy people now expect someone like trump, even if they can't have trump. Even if he dies tomorrow, the political landscape will remain changed for probably a few decades thanks to the sheer momentum he created.
Even people who disagree with him respect him as a force of nature. And I dont think it wise to underestimate how much people care if you give them hope. Dismisding it as just a cult would be to misunderstand what it is that people really want. To be successful as a politician by definition means you try to inspire loyalty and support. If you are good at it and don't betray the trust, it will last a long time. And it is only natural that if you are really not used to being represented at all and then suddenly several of your beliefs are actually being said out loud on TV, you are not going to care about details like a pompous personality. This may of course be harder to understand if you don't agree with his policies, but for those of us who do, it is a really big deal.

We are not a dictatorship. All these fucking morons that have the MAGA hats, flags, tshirts, etc don't seem to get that he is making all that stuff and pocketing all that cash. He is a very polarizing person, so people either love him or hate him and the emotions are pretty strong. Both sides want to spew out "facts" (let's just use that term loosely here) that they think will strengthen their viewpoint or change the view of others, not realizing that mere facts are not going to change the mind of someone who has bought in with belief.

I don't think that you understand how shitty society has become, well that's cap, I'm sure you've noticed but my point is that opinions are for some reason becoming more strict because of the media that just completely brainwashed people with the rights and wrongs and it completely threw off the importance of opinions, now people take opinions like your opinions threaten them in some way, it's all very stupid, they are just too sensitive and simple minded that they believe cause they can't agree with you that y'all are enemies or someshit 🤷

They talked about him before he was president from the fear that he might become president. Then they talked about him after he was elected because he was president. Now they're talking about him out of fear he will be president again. I don't think they will ever ever ever stop talking about him, not even after he dies because then the fear will be that he'll rise from the dead and run again.

Yes but the president can set the tone of the whole country. The elections next year are very important and Trump will most likely campaign for republican candidates in key states. His endorsement carries a lot of weight with Americans and the democrats would like to discredit him.

Put simply, the stakes are quite high. And a single man is easier to focus on than a whole army of different politicians. I am usually in the minority politically and it would be hard to hate almost everyone. But consider what if it is actually everyones fault if the situation worsens or if the country collapses. If they knew better, they could have stopped it. And I get to sit here with my only correct and true opinion and watch the country burn (literally lol) because of bad ideas out there. I would be honestly suprized if everyone (and we all tend to believe we are right) just shrugged and didn't blame anyone at all for the collapse. If nothing much happens then perhaps the indifference is understandable. But what if things really will go super badly? Are you then going to stay calm because you dont know how to fix it, or do you not care whether it gets fixed?
