What are some things you find strange that are normalized in society?
And don't get me started on the government and system.
I actually wondered about human breast milk as well. To my basic understanding, it's actually not nearly as nutritious as milk from other animals like cows, goats, and mares, but it's easier to absorb for a baby's immature system and contains enzymes that are very helpful to babies but apparently not so much for us past infancy.
One that always struck me as strange being from Japan is tipping culture. I follow the tipping custom when I'm in countries that have it but I find it very cumbersome and it ultimately seems to me like a way for employers to con their workers out of proper wages by passing the burden onto charitable customers.
Personally I don't mind drinking human breast milk from whoever if it's pasteurized. "Breassstt millllkk! You made my day-yayyy!" πΆ

I've also never been a fan of tipping culture, but for the opposite reason. Most servers get paid extremely well (obviously depending on where they work, but for the most part it's well above minimum wage.
I don't think that you should ever complain about not being tipped when all your job entails is taking people's orders, bringing them food and drinks, and cleaning after them.
When I worked as a busboy for some restaurants, the waitresses I worked with all had a disgusting view that you should not go out if you aren't planning on tipping. Some people aren't making a ton of money and just want to be able to go out and have a good time, and not have to spend an extra 15% or more for your average service.
That part always seemed like it could come with some perverse incentives, and gratuity no longer being seen as what it's supposed to be as in an extra reward for going above and beyond. One of the things that concerns me is that it might tempt servers to neglect service to customers who they suspect won't tip as much as the ones they suspect will. It seems to encourage some degree of discrimination in ways based on the way people dress, speak, whether they're repeat customers or not, possibly even ethnicity/race and things like that, and I can't really fault them since that's how they make the big bucks is to know to prioritize their service to the best tippers.
In Japan the standard is just exceptional service no matter what. Since we don't have tipping (it's actually considered rude to offer tips at restaurants), there's no temptation for servers to discriminate.
Actually it's funny you say that. The servers I worked with tried to avoid Indians and black people for the most part. And it was unjust too. My friend who got me the job there told me she got paid the best in tips there and that's because she never discriminated and always treated everyone the same. She never avoided tables. All the other servers were jealous
asking if Pepsi is okay...
is fucking not okay...
giving toddlers smartphones
allowing kids to have access to social media without taking any safety measures
not hiring employees without experience like how would they have experience if u won't give em chance to work
rich people being above the law
etc
Agreed with all of those
Not unusual, predators will often flip prey on it's back to munch at the milk filled breasts of their prey. We've just civilised it.

Physically assaulting children because they're acting like... children... 🤔
Eh... I think some physical discipline is okay in some scenarios. I think people are soft nowadays and kids are way too entitled and think they can get away with anything and say anything to people without any repercussions.
I think that though it won't cause permeant damage if not done in an extremely severe way, it's not necessary & that parents simply use it as the most efficient way to getting their way rather than effectively solving issues at hand. I mean I can't tell you how many parents I've seen assault their kids because they are not currently enjoying their lives. Then when they are enjoying their lives for whatever reason, the child could do the exact same thing & the parent may not assault them.
I look at so many people & just see big kids. When they're highly emotional, they throw tantrums when they don't get their way. Maybe even for the pleasure of the feeling of dominance. Sometimes it can seem that way. Except these tantrums involve causing uneccessary suffering onto other people. Children that aren't even intellligent enough to understand the scope of many circumstanes to begin with.
So, I believe there are ways people can discipline their kids in ways that reflect efficacy without having to assault them.
I see your point and I agree with it. The funny thing is, I was only hit once growing up and it wasn't justified, so I can't say that I grew up that way. However, I still say in some scenarios and depending on the kid, if they act really unruly, sometimes a firm hand is needed.
I heard about a kid that cried the majority of a flight that was 24 hours long. And because of that people were asking for a childless flight option, when in reality, if the parent just had a firm hand, the kid would've shaped up. I don't think it traumatizes people as everyone claims it does nowadays.
I've been hit by my parents so many times in my life. Wouldn't be surprised if the number is over a thousand at this point. Some more severe than other times ofc. I think that I can never believe that it's needed. But I will admit that in some scenarios, it could be effective & efficient. Just don't know if it's ultimately constructive though. For instance, I think I'd have less social anxiety slowly killing me if I wasn't disciplined to harshly as a kid. My nervous system was so heightened as a kid that I'm pretty sure it's ultra sensitive now for that reason.
