If it has a motor two wheels four wheels no wheels and it goes fast or slow yes I can fix it I can build it I can turn it into high performance
And everybody should know at least how to check the oil or change it they're antifreeze or radiator just because winter is here
their air pressure because for better gas mileage or if your car keeps pulling to one side you can almost tell which tire is low
But there's moments where you can save lots of money if you know the sound of a car..
Or just even smelling the exhaust and if your check engine light comes on
You can figure it out and save yourself lots of money and maybe save yourself from being ripped off by taking it to a mechanic
I can, but with California's disposal laws it is actually cheaper and less of a hassle to have a shop change the oil, and with unlimited services call for flats or keys locked in vehicle, I just let them change it unless I am in a real hurry or in an isolated area.
Changing tires on my bike is substantially more difficult and complicated than changing a car tire.
You need to place the bike on the handlebars and sage to stabilize it and then remove the chain, which can be a messy business.
Next, you need to remove the tire from its wheel and remove the tube to locate the puncture hole.
I will not go in details but it is complicated.
Oil change on the other hand is so much simpler than on a car. All you need is to apply a few drops on the chain. Et voilà, job done!
You’d be doing yourself a disservice by not knowing at least the basics. That’s when mechanics swoop in hoping you don’t know better. I remember buying new tires and having them installed, 4 days later, I needed an oil change so I stopped by a shop. He quoted me then told me, my tires are worn down. I left without the oil change.
Yeah I hate it when they do that. I'm still no expert but I finally know enough to know when they're ripping me off.

I could quite possibly change a wheel/tyre with confidence... But as for doing an oil change etc? Well that would definitely be a job for the lovely guys in our village garage... However, I do at least know how to check tryre pressures, along with both oil and water levels... But again I would normally just leave it to those who are trained and know best.
Oil changes are super easy. You can watch one youtube video on your specific car and you're already an expert.
That's what I did. Been doing it myself ever since.
@MysticDevice
I'm sure you're absolutely right and correct in what you say... However, I do consider oil can make a horrible mess, and it doesn't exactly have a very nice smell either.
It can make a huge mess thats for sure. But surprisingly it doesn't smell all that strong. Its not much more pungent than cooking oil
I do, my dad taught me, he's a "car guy" and I'm a "car girl".
Parenting done right.
I know basic car maintenance and used to do most of it myself, but now days I have a lot less free time so its not worth it to me.
yeah it's easy when you're shown how
would just take me a sec to remember
I raced motorcycles and sports cars. I was my own wrench. I also was in the pits for others. I'm good at the fundamentals but modern electronics are a mystery. I converted my cars to old school proven components like magnetos and carburetors.
Yes I know auto maintenance and basic repair...
Back in the old days, I used to do my own maintenance... oil change, tuneup, tire pressures. Now, I let the auto mechanics do it.
I'm a man and I'll admit, I don't know anything about cars, I don't really like cars in general nor do I have much interest in them.
I do recognize this as a useful skill in which I hold no level of competency.
I'm quite familiar with those two items of vehicle maintenance and many, many more.
Not me because
I do, I actualy know very advanced car maintenance all be it on modern cars thier hard to work on due to lack of room to work on them under the hood
didn't do the oil yet.
Tires, brakes and lights are done by me
I do, it's a must tbh
Dont own a car so
Problem solved before it even begins
@Asker.. so I should learn how to fix it before I get it?
At least learn how to change a tire and check the oil.
Its cheaper to change a tire than it is to have it towed.
@MysticDevice thanks for the tip. I will give it a try
I dont know crap about that.
I do.
I have no idea about car maintainence.
basic, yes...
