Only tire I know how to change since my grandfather (from the US) taught me in case of emergencies. I don't know how to change the oil and always relied on service mechanics for it.

I'm admittedly not very knowledgeable about cars in general! That's a manly sort of thing I lack. I don't even know how to identify car models. Some of my buddies from the US into cars amaze me with how they can just glance at a car and tell not only brand but precise year. I don't even know how to identify brand unless it's like a Lambo.

We don't have a big car culture here in Japan and I only drive my car around once a week (prefer the train and subway for everything else). I might need to correct my lack of knowledge of auto mechanics.

Yep. Have changed a tire multiple times. And a sensor in a very difficult place to reach. I also keep tools in my car and a jack stand. You just never know when you have to pull over to the side of the road.

Yup, change tire, oil change, shag light means what problem, jumper cables.. not to pick up people off the streets.

You don't need a lift or a shop to change oil. One 15mm wrench is literally all you need.

I wish you were my neighbor to help me out so I could pay you for a tuneup much less than I could pay a mechanic, especially in Miami Florida they rip you off big city

@Iron_Man With computers controlling everything in cars today, they essentially do tune-ups continuously as you drive. Just about all that's needed for a "tuneup" is changing spark plugs every 30K-100K miles (see manufacturer's recommendations), and occasionally cleaning out the throttle body. And, of course, regular oil changes... and finding out what's wrong if the Check Engine light goes on.
