Yes, I am a functional adult. I also know how to change the oil and filter, change the coolant, replace the battery, replace head and tail light bulbs, rotate the tires, change the brake pads, change the brake rotors, reset the maintenance required light, and open up the stupid driver’s side door panel and realign the window so it actually goes up and down properly.
Would you date a guy that didn’t even know how to check his oil or even change a tire?
That’s not a reason not to date someone. But unwillingness to learn would be.
My father made sure I knew all of that plus how to change a flat tire on my own before he let me out on the road.

I know enough to get by and what I don't know I can learn on youtube... When I was broke I used to do everything myself.
Nowadays I pay mechanics and skip the hassle. I just don't find it worth my time and I can think of a great deal of things I'd rather be doing then wrenching on vehicles to save a couple bucks.
With all that being said, the knowledge I've acquired on vehicle mechanics has proven to be indispensable over the years. I've avoided many scams thanks to having a general idea of what needs to be done and doesn't need to be done; not easily fucked over by a mechanic shop.
Yeah. And for anything I don’t know my brother in law is a mechanic and will teach me. Right now my car is a piece of shit. There’s a leak in the coolant, a crack in the windshield that’s growing (I’m really quite upset about that), some sort of issue with my engine that I’ll be running some $200 spray thing to clear any debris I’ll be replacing the spark plugs and then changing the oil.
Yes. I don't do actual engine or transmission work, but I do all routine maintenance, including brakes and suspension. I've replaced starters, alternators, PCV valves, oil pan and valve cover gaskets, and fuel pumps. So, most stuff.
I just don't have the space, tools, or lift to make it worthwhile to learn engine work. I'll let a pro do that.
My understanding is that in some countries you have to know the basics of car maintenance to get a driver's license. They should do that everywhere.
Anyway, I can do anything on a car. I don't have much motivation to work on cars any more, but I still do it because it's way cheaper. I hate paying an expensive mechanic for stuff I can do myself.
yes, but checking tranny fluid is hard since it's sealed. I do a lot of my own work..."I've got an awsome set of tools"...
I've also changed out tires (summers for winters), did brake jobs and attached new mufflers.
I shake my butt and it gets done as if by magic
That I do, despite of not even having a driver licence.
Of course I’m old-school where you had to do all that back when I was driving., that’s why I even learned how to work on my own car since I was 16 years old
I had my Fast and Furious days back then. Of course.
yes, but it is harder to work on cars these days.
Never do it in the freezing cold that pain you feel when your fingers hit metal is doubled by 1000 in the cold
Used to know how to tear down an engine until fuel injection and computer chips screwed everything up.
I’m using a different truck now. yes I can are you talking about pressure. What pressure tire pressure. Not sure about the differential though
Ever rubbed yourself with some car oil? Like a Transformer
Yes, sir, I do.
I can rebuild an engine, so yeah
Yes I do.
I don’t even have a car
Yea, that and more.
