No just the opposite I absolutely love it. It's never totally dark outside unless you're walking through the woods and I admit I'll use a headtorch but if you're on open ground your eyes soon get accustomed to the dark.

The dark can't harm you, if anything it cloaks you and keeps you safe. I love the way nature comes alive, you can hear the limpets grazing on the rocks, that bare stone wall is now a mass of creepy crawlies, or you'll catch the glowing eyes of something checking you out. I like how the bats follow you fluttering around your head to pick of insects you dislodge.

Living as we do on the outskirts of a "chocolate box top" country village, and in property standing within its own grounds, other than the few lights that light the small estate, it is always pitch black outside, and also the road leading down to the village... So because of this we have become very accustomed to the dark.

However, we would be extremely wary and on our guard if in totally different surroundings.

I've never been afraid of the dark. I've only ever been afraid of harmful beings that tend to lurk in the dark.

For instance, if I lived in the mountains, I'd be very cautious & more afraid of walking around in the dark than I am right now living in a city. I know I should be just as afraid walking around in cities since crime rates are higher & I probably have a higher probability of being attacked by my own kind than I do a wild animal. But I just don't. Maybe because I know that with my own kind, I have a chance to put up a good fight & we have court of law that deters to some degree. Whereas if a large cat or bear attacked me, I'd stand significantly less of a chance due to their threat level & lawlessness.

No ma'am. I've been to some pretty dark places inwardly. I've become quite resilient. Having said that, we can't have this thread without a mention for this song.

It depends. If it's pitch black in a place I've been before, I am not afraid. However, if it's so dark I can barely see my hand in front of my face, and I'm somewhere I've never been before (like a cellar) I must admit that I have some fear.

Not exactly. I think it depends on the situation. Because like for example back at my parents house in our laundry room I get a real uneasy feeling there to this day when I go there. But whenever my sister babysitted me as a kid she's lock me in there with the light off. I just don't like being in there. I don't think it has to do with the dark.

Didn’t used to be but I am now… only because I’m an anxious mom and if it’s pitch black in my bedroom then I can’t see if my baby is okay in his cot beside my bed 😅
