Depends where I am, in my house or even outside my house in the dark wouldn't scare me. Walking across a cemetery or through the woods would be terrifying.

Only when camping. Even then it isn't so much a fear of darkness, but more so a fear of bears or criminals who sometimes wander around at night. That's when they can hunt for whatever they want.

  LOL, if someone wants to drag me out of my tent at 2AM, they're gonna have to trek 3 days and 25 miles into a wilderness area over some pretty challenging terrain. The only bears we have around here are black bears and they are generally pretty skittish. But I carry a 5 shot 45-70 revolver with a 6" barrel loaded with 500 grain +P hard cast rifle ammo that can take down a bear or moose. 5 to 6 foot of penetration through meat and bone. Also makes one hell of a noise.

  @OneViewpoint Yeah, it pays to be prepared. I generally camp in a van so the bears aren't really an issue, but I do have a weapon in case someone breaks in.

  I've never had a reason to use a weapon on wildlife. But to tell the truth, moose scare me more than bears. Big, dumb, goofy looking herbivores. Until they freak out because... who knows!

No but isn’t that when the home invasions happen when it’s pitch dark so they can snoop around and rob you when you’re sleeping? That’s why I keep a light on, but I would wake up anyway because I’m a light sleeper
