I'd say it's half yes, half no.
It's not specific to the Chinese, they didn't exactly invent this concept themselves.
The thing that scares me about TikTok is how clearly it violated and continues to violate privacy rights. Android phones first discovered this as it asked for almost every single permission to access your phone, far beyond what other social media apps would. Then Apple discovered it was taking advantage of a bug that let it view your clipboard history (which could include sensitive passwords and such).
The scary thing to me that paints it as a weapon is the algorithm it uses. The first suspicious thing was that if TikTok were to be sold to a US company like Microsoft, the PRC made it clear the algorithm wouldn't go with it.
The alogrithim IS the app and the weaponized portion of it. When you are shown a TikTok it is not only tacking how long you watch, likes, comments, etc. but your face through the front camera.
Laugh? Frown? Get angry? TikTok learns this about you and how your react. After a while it builds a profile on you that not only allows it to show you more content you like but push better ads... and see if you're vulnerable to certain propaganda.
That's why so much TikTok political content seems to revolve around criticism or rejection of the US, its ideals, and other US interests. It's not some anomaly, it's a gradual attempt to demoralize and then normalize rejection of US hegemony while making you more comfortable with Chinese hegemony. They will push more and more of this content based on your profile especially if they detect your political views or state of life (such as depression) from the algorithm.
So yes while the data collection methods themselves may not be a Chinese weapon, the way they are implemented is.32 Reply- 29 d
You are locked in on this theory lol

We all know China is not our best friend and that they have our best interests at heart. This is not a theory it is a fact they have found a form of spyware buried in in programs from China. They are on course for world domination by any means possible. But I guess you think they are our best friends. NOT!

Let's go beyond that level, any country in this world, with the capacity to do it, tries to influence other countries. In so many ways, it's just crazy. This is an era of data, planet-wide, since internet became a huge source of income in just 2 decades. And a huge source of intel as well.
I wonder why EU is passing laws against data collection, to protect its citizens' privacy? Or could it be because many sources mining data, like social medias and mobile apps, are operating from the United States of America? I wonder... 😏

8.1K opinions shared on Other topic. Doesn't matter, I will keep using it. Lol my FY page never shows me people dancing or doing cringe stuff. The algorithm picks on what you enjoy seeing for example it shows me astronomy-related videos, people commenting on the latest news, people commenting on shit relevant to history, mini-documentaries, wholesome videos of animals, glitch in the matrix videos, paranormal shit, discoveries, reddit stories, coding stuff etc.
If it shows me a video I don't like on my FY page I simply click "I don't want to see this" and it never shows me relevant videos of it again.19 Reply- 28 d
Well I refuse to create an account, sometimes I click on something I wanna watch and if it takes me to tik tok it doesn't let me watch or read it until i create one, i just say fuck this lol, from what i heard you sign your privacy away completely, someone said you give them access to your whole device and it's in their terms and conditions, I get places like insta and Facebook with the gallery access and mic but the full phone is just wild, that would probably include bank and whatnot.
- 28 d
Including your full internet so I'd imagine you give them access to your Internet as well, you see I'm not all techy brainy like yourself so I can't just code them away or off my device like you can 😂
- 28 d
Yep I think mental damage is their most effective power of these types of sites
- 28 d
Its possibly their goal, all the mental illness they are partially fault for is probably unaccountable
- 28 d
Honestly all those apps track you down, but we all pick our own poison 😂 for example I deleted Instagram I also wanted to delete fb too but some of my friends do not have WhatsApp or Viber, therefore I have to keep it, I will probably delete it and only keep messenger since I rarely post lol.
However goddamn it tik tok shows you the shit you like without looking for them (it also aids to us becoming even lazier to look up shit on our own). It is difficult to prevent it from becoming an addiction, but I have set a limit of no more than 2 hours and it works so far. - 28 d
I actually kept Snapchat for the reason, there's people I got on there, the sacrifices we do for people lol
You know it's an addiction when you have to purposely control yourself from an overdose 😂

It shows how easily humans can be manipulated.
even without tik tok, Americans were going downhill for years.
Most Americans are living in a bubble13 Reply- 29 d

There are many instances to weaken is such as social media, troll farms stirring hate, bribes in government & military and so much more. We may very well find that fentanyl and Covid were for such a purpose.
Tik Toc was used to identify government installations including secret ones by tracking phones carrying the app is my understanding and that was what set alarm bells off from the military.
10 Reply1.8K opinions shared on Other topic. Not by primary intention. The content on it, that the US and Europe create and absorb are most likely originating from US and Europe. Zuckerberg (instagram) and certain YouTube shorts are likely to be doing very similar things to cause brain rot.
That said, i feel better off without those overall. I did only scroll YouTube shorts as an unregistered user half a dozen times in order to quantify the content popping up.

it's been stuck in my head and i had to say it
if you hadn't posted this then i just would've said it somewhere else lol - 29 d
That is highly possible yes, or you would've just kept hearing it in your head and kept on going with life 😂
- 28 d
Yes, but I'm 100% against the US government getting involved in controlling it.
111 Reply- 28 d
I guess that all depends on the intentions of the Chinese lol
- 28 d
Noooo. The Chinese have bad intentions for you. But Nancy and the gang don't care about you. They just want to open the door to silencing free speech. Free speech is a threat to Democrats, so it makes sense that they bring in this Trojan Horse of an excuse.
Chico, I worry about you, so I'm not going to let you have sharp objects. I'm sending in a team to save you.
- 28 d
You don't gotta worry about me sara, just stay up stairs and tell your team I'm armed and to not come in any closer, and i dont understand what you are trying to tell me here lol
- 28 d
Chico, you learn more by listening, than talking. I listen to conservative outlets, think about it, and then research it.
Why didn't the Dems give a shit about you or TikTok when Twitter was around?
Why didn't AOC care about you then? Why now? What changed? Elon Musk bought Twitter for 44 billion. Why? He wanted to save free speech. The Dems are freaking out. They want to start small and go after TikTok. Most people would support that. But then what social media will be next?
So my advice to you is, be careful of sharp objects, and don't put TikTok on your phone. Easy Peasy. You don't need "Big Brother" to save you from yourself.
- 28 d
I don't have til tok on my phone, I don't even have an account lol, I've kept it that way for this reason ha
- 28 d
I post TikTok videos on this site all the time. But I get them from YouTube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArGJVF_OvoY&t=8s
Chico, I doubt the Chinese will be interested in you and I, but even so, I'm not going to give them the opportunity to spy on me.
There are a lot of things in this world that are bad for you, but I don't want them banned.
I'd rather you not jump off a bridge, but it's up to you. :) - 28 d
Its not about them caring about us specifically but them having access to our technology if they ever have too cause if shit hits the fan I'm definitely going to be a pain in their ass Sara 😂
- 28 d
Why hasn't Google created competition for TikTok?
TikTok is a lot of fun, and no one doubts that. I just don't understand how we can't create our own version. - 28 d
We can create our own but people probably don't want to use funds on that, they get nothing from it
- 28 d
Funds?
- 28 d
I can't imagine it would be free to create any form of application or website and to run it's servers I doubt that's free either

Yes it is an information weapon China is using to influence western society, specifically America. They specifically promote behavior in western societies that are detrimental to have a negative influence on the youth of a country.

Yep that's what it seems like, they also recently felt the need to mention China has no issues with the US after trump went in office, if they are people we do business with, i dont see why they felt the need to say such a thing unless they lowkey felt different about us.
