Why does Self discovery always feel Risky & uncomfortable?

When you stepping out of a box and getting to know yourself or better understanding yourself or just trying something new feels risky. Uncomfortable and because you’re older, there’s no safety

I can't give a reason why, it's one of those "just because it is" things. Even when you know you're being truthful to yourself, you get anxious & stuff about what other people might think or how it might go. Whether it's awkward or not is another story since that requires the experience in progress.
