Is one day later still good timing to report an accident you've caused?

I've ruined someone's rear headlights and will report to my insurance in a bit. It's my neighbor's car, they're out on vacation for 4 days and no one saw it happening.

I know you're suppose to report it immediately when it happens. The reason I didn't do so at that moment is because I've gotten in trouble. I would've failed the blood test. I was coming back from a friend's b-day pool party.
