What was your general impression of nerds growing up?

I'm still unsure what a nerd is, definitions I found were not very helpful; I had this issue in your previous question implying nerds, plus the uncertainties:

• Who is using the term, is it derogatory, positive?
• This term has evolved, its color has changed
• I'm not even using this term often around here, compared to the term "geek"

I was an athlete / musician who, although an average student, happened to be good at chess. I got along with most everyone, including the nerds.

Even though I was a nerd myself, I didn't want to be with one growing up. I assumed that nerdy guys were like Clark Kent from the Superman movies. Now older I realize that nerds aren't like that. They are very cool people.

Lol maybe so but I think it's because it was Christopher Reeve and the fact that he was Superman underneath the bumbling nerd. But I didn't think he was attractive then as the bumbling nerd but now I do.

Neutral, I only based my opinions on people as individuals. I was friends with nerds who were great people, and I also knew nerds who were total assholes.

I knew more nice nerds over assholes, but the assholes certainly made up for it. Worst part is they weren’t even rude to me for good reason, they literally just treated me like crap because I was a girl.
