i left the area within 2 years of graduation and never really went back. the longest i've been in town is <72 hrs for a funeral of immediate family. it's not unusual, esp. since the area has fallen on hard economic times.
most of the (intellectual) nerds got the hell out of town, went on to schools and professions that made them very successful.
most "popular" kids either learned that they needed to put hs behind them or ended up fizzling in a few years.
average kids ran the spectrum. many are still back in podunk pumping gas, managing the family business or working some of the few available jobs in the area. some of the others went on to successful professions elsewhere.
bottom line of all this is my experience has been that those who were the "in" crowd and stayed in the area pretty much "peaked" in hs. a few got an education and then came right back, essentially replacing those who had done same in decades before.

The kids that got in trouble and had to take summer classes to pass if they ever did are millionaires. I know for sure one is and the other is probably close. One develops land and the other is the agent for rock bands. Bands you hear on radio.

I don't know... I don't keep track of them... I'll look a few up for you...
First, The valedictorian... All his siblings were valedictorians as well and went to Boca Raton Community High School in Florida. Looks like he went on to became an Engineer after high school and worked in a couple of states, before returning to Florida to become a farmer and now he's a market gardener that sells vegetables to CSAs, Farmers markets, local restaurants, etc. He lives down in Miami on a small farm in the Redlands now but hangs his corporation at his parents house. So the most studious kid that didn't even have TV growing up got 100% in just about ever class since we were in kindergarten (he lived 5 blocks away from me) went to college probably aced everything there while getting his engineering degree, and worked in several different states in that field, and then said fuck it all and became a farm boy.
A popular girl I use to hang out with for a while went on to become an Attorney and was eventually was elected to the Florida House of Representatives. Looks like she's a career politician.
Eric André lived 5 blocks away from me. He was a year behind me. He was always a nerdy awkward kid that use to skate around the teen center. He went to art school and is now an actor.Weirdly I was considered popular cause everyone saw me as that Gangster ass thug dude that you don't fuck with at all and knew I was crazy if you got me mad but the chick's loved me lol and I went to ghetto schools only one school I went too after being expelled had some rich kids.
But all the baddies I went to school with became mothers with multiple children or ended up in a domestic violent relationship and FAT like how to y'all get so damn FAT? Them kids is an excuse for abit but to stay fat. And some are on the streets being 5150s talking to themselves on drugs or overdosed and dead. Or on the streets doing prostitution or on onlyfans. a lot of dudes died or kill themselves many of them actually or are in prison or felons fighting back to back cases always in trouble, some of the people who were well known bangers are tweakers and tweaked out and get bullied now... by their drug dealers and people they owe money too and dudes just got way to many baby mommas.
The nerds I grew up with most ain't doing anything big that I know of and some killed themselves. I don't think I heard any of them working some big time job and some are married to ugly chicks and some got married to the baddies in high-school but the chick's are FAT so it's not like they won anything. They had to marry the old school hoes when they were fat lol
Only a few made it out of that city and I'm one of them and everyone else I checked on who made it out are all doing good and from the looks of it all live in rich cities in different states full of nice stuff. No more poverty or any of that. Were just the smart ones who got out the fish bowl.Looking at most of my friends and myself, who were all nerds.. We got a comfortable job, most of us ended up in IT, so we easily make 6 figures by ~25. There's always a few exceptions of course. Some of the more popular kids I've seen got decent jobs as well, secretary, car mechanic, marketing, I know a few of them were models for a while, but are already too old for that.
"Average", I haven't really kept track of, but pretty much the same. Most of us got a decent job, settled down and and are just.. people. At most the difference is the field we ended up working in.Well, this particular nerd joined a local rock band as the drummer and spent 25 years with them and came very close to being famous!! Some of our records are still being played on the radio by some guy over in Norway or Sweden. I've also helped write a few books, am writing at least two of my own, wrote part of a movie script, did voice acting in two other movies and did a couple comedy singles of my own.
A lot of the others I knew are either still here in the area or are living in Florida and, at least one has died. Another one was actually a famous comedian for a short while until he was involved with a bit of a scandal in the mid `90's. Remember the reality show, "Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire?"? I went to school with that guy!I always say be nice to a nerd because one day you may work for one & as for the nerds in my school some went on to do good things & others dropped off the face of the earth. Some of the popular people in my school when on to become teachers & lawyers & others are in jail. After graduation I said farewell to all my fellow students & I moved on & knock on wood I’m doing well. I have a wonderful career, a nice house I paid off in four years & more. I’m single & accepting applications.
Well hasn't been long since high school. I guess I would be considered a nerd, and I go to university now, and I study astrophysics.
Popular kids? I don't know if there was such a thing in my highschool, or if there was I couldn't tell you, I lived in my own bubble. It was just a bunch of average kids - some nerdier than others.
Most of the people I know went on to go on gap years, trying to regain their motivation for school after of the pandemic.
The ones who didn't went to university as well, all studying in the STEM field - all my friends were "nerds".
A kid I knew in middleschool dropped out of highschool and went to acting school. Another kid I knew in middleschool went to a singing school. Some are working there dream jobs and some are just working regular 8 hour day jobs I am surprise some of the nerd kids I was friends with did not make it... All I know I was popular and a under cover nerd in my heart lol ... I was friends with everyone in school Nomatter what label they where under and I got my dream job and family life it's funny some of my old teammates from football and other peeps thought I wouldn't be successful because I party a lot lol yes i was wilding out but I always study and past all my tests in every subject people where to busy looking at my party side and not my book smarts I was a nerd at heart believe it or not where I am in life speaks for it self I'm a BOSS literally a BOSS I got 40 employees working for me I love proving people wrong HAHA 💪🏽🥰:)!
I didn’t keep up with my high school friends that much. Among my college friends, the biggest drinker in my fraternity is now a judge. The biggest pot smoker is an ordained minister and headmaster of a Christian School. Some of the biggest sluts are now self righteous Bible thumpers.
The popular kids are not so popular in the adult world now (lol), they don't look the same (some are fat and well out of shape), married with kids or single with kids especially the women. The average kids have change now (they're in shape and working great jobs) as well as the nerds (the ladies that use to be nerds are very hot now) but for the most part everybody is doing great the last time I checked.
I have never really kept track of where people went after that. I never really talked to many people. I guess I do wonder... sometimes where people are not.
There was some bullying problems but most people tried to get along or at least co exist"Popular" kids were the "nerds".
Some people are doing well...
Most are still in my hometown, poor, doing drugs.
NNY is not what it used to be.
Majority of my friends are doing well though 😊Some of us are still friends, a mix of those who never actually socialised at school lol.
The key thing with those of us who are still friends and socialise, is that we all pushed to do better get out of our socially deprived area.never really existed. and your too young to have actually witnessed these groups when they did exist.
"Nerds" "Average" and god "Popular" what are you living in a weird bubble stuck in the 80's?I really have no idea. I never see anyone from high school. I do know who has died and it is lot I think and it is sometimes not the people you would expect. The class has a Facebook page.
As near as I can tell, there hasn’t been much of a correlation between social status and outcomes for the guys. But the more popular girls ended up with wealthier husbands. Maybe that was coincidence.
The nerds went to college.
The average kids went to college.
The popular kids dropped out.I only know about the ones that are dead, I have seen a few around doing their own shit tho so I guess that's good
Nerds like me have moved into the Study of CyberSecurity😀
Nerds are more likely to have a better job,
Popular kids sometimes do well also. Very difficult questionA mixed bag, I was in the science class so a bunch of my class work in hospital. From the rest, annoyingly the mean girls became teachers.
