What happens to the cool kids after high school?

Question

I am only a few weeks away from graduation and honestly, school is a place to get to know the strangest but also most diverse people from all kinds of social backgrounds.
We all know that there's something like an unspoken social hierarchy among students and that whole clique thing making some peoples' time at school hell.
And as if this wasn't enough, there's also an obvious popularity contest going on and everybody tries to fit in with the in-crowd and kids always sit with kids of the same level of coolness at one table during lunch break.

And we all probably know how those cool kids act and what they're about.

The question is, what happens to this kind of students after graduation?

Nothing special, they all disburse into the real big world and their popularity means zero. Keep in mind in highschool teens are growing and learning, and most don't want to look or act different from the world; They want to fit it. Honestly I am only good friends with 1 friend from highschool still. College ( and post secondary school ) is more likely where you meet friends that last a long time, and usually by then people have grown up a bit and the hierarchy of highschool means nothing anymore. Hang in there!

Ps popular kids have lots of the same insecurities you have, they just don't show it. And you'd be suprised if you meet them 10yrs down the road, they're usually grown up by then and will treat you as a person like everyone else.

This one girl I knew ended up addicted to crack... another guy when off to study aerospace and wants to work for NASA. The high school sweet heart couple split up after two or three years. Basically regular life out side of being a dumbass kid took over. Yes, all kids are dumbasses, you'll see why after high school if you don't already know now.

Ya I agree with @meatballs21. You can't really generalize what will happen to those kind of students. Some go on to be successful and some burn out.

But a lot of people who hated high school go on to have great social lives and be successful. You'll get a fresh start when you graduate.

Those who learn to adapt and grow up, they become successful. They have an advantage of being socially adept. Those who stay douche and lazy, crash. Same thing goes for those unpopular, there's a lot of late bloomers. They develop skills they didn't have in HS and grow to become successful. A LOT of famous people (singers, movie stars, etc) were awkward in HS.

Same thing that happens to most everyone else. Life beats the living shit out of them, and they realize the world doesn't give a shit how cool or popular you were or weren't in school. The world only cares about what it can take from you or what you can do for it, and nothing else matters.

Contrary to what the media states about cool kids becoming preggo or failures, the "cool" kids from my high school became more successful financially and socially than anyone I know thanks to their superior confidence and people skills. It's usually the shy people who end up fucking up in life.

Some of them become extremely successful and/or stay douchey forever.

Others mellow out and mature and suddenly you find you can be friends now you're outside of the stupid popularity contest and in the real freakin' world. Assuming you kept in contact with them, that is. Easier now with Facebook than it ever was.

i believe roles are getting reversed after school.

the "cool" kids became married with children, having an 8 to 5 job. and "nerds" became more sociable.

Some will be rich monetarily and some will not be. Some will have a family and some will not. It all depends on what path people choose to take. During high school being popular is high on some people's list but after high school love, job/career,

Same thing that happenes to everyone else except being popular means your social and prob have parents with money because they have nice clothes so they might be able to get a job quicker and might enjoy college more
