One of the best parts of getting older is the gained wisdom, perspective, and increased self-acceptance that comes with experience and life's journey. As you age, you accumulate a wealth of knowledge and understanding, allowing you to navigate challenges with greater empathy, resilience, and a deeper appreciation for life's complexities.
Here's a breakdown of some key aspects that contribute to this positive aspect of aging:
Increased self-acceptance and a lessened concern about others' opinions:
With age often comes a greater sense of self-awareness and self-acceptance. You become more comfortable in your own skin, less concerned with what others think, and more confident in your choices and values. This leads to a greater sense of freedom and authenticity.
Greater empathy and social skills:
Life experiences, both positive and negative, contribute to a deeper understanding of human emotions and motivations. This can foster greater empathy, improved social skills, and a stronger ability to connect with others on a meaningful level.
Wisdom and perspective:
Years of living and learning provide a unique perspective on life. You can draw on your experiences to make informed decisions, offer valuable advice, and navigate challenges with greater clarity and understanding.
A greater appreciation for life's simple pleasures:
As you age, you might find yourself appreciating the small things in life more than ever before. This can range from enjoying a quiet evening at home to savoring a delicious meal or simply enjoying the company of loved ones.
Freedom to pursue passions and interests:
With retirement or reduced work responsibilities, you gain the freedom to pursue hobbies, travel, or engage in activities that you may have had to put on hold earlier in life. This can lead to a greater sense of fulfillment and personal growth.
Stronger relationships and deeper connections:
Over time, you may find that your relationships with family and friends deepen and become more meaningful. The bonds you've built over the years can provide a strong support system and a sense of belonging.
A sense of accomplishment and contentment:
Looking back on a life well-lived can bring a profound sense of accomplishment and contentment. You can reflect on your achievements, the impact you've had on others, and the lessons you've learned along the way.
In essence, the best part of getting older is the opportunity to live a more fulfilling, meaningful, and authentic life, enriched by the wisdom, perspective, and self-acceptance that comes with experience.
I’m not sure. when this change happened , but I spent far too much time in my formative years caring what people thought , of me , of their other peers , the wider world etc. That point of maturity where the penny dropped and I realized the majority of people say and do what they want giving the impression they care but don’t actually give a F*** about you or anyone else…. For me that is still my favorite part of getting older…. Getting wiser ! , when your eyes are fully open and you actually understand how life really is !!
Protecting your sanity and your mental health above all. I sum it up in the sheer accuracy of an old comedy sketch done by Quinta Brunson in which her friends are sitting around, and she's invited to hang out, and she point blank says no. Her friends are confused, and ask her if she's busy, or has to visit her dad, or has something more important to do, and she just says, no, I am not coming. I'm not busy. I have nothing else to do. I just don't want to come.
Yup, I just don't care about pleasing people and trying to be everyone's everything anymore. When you're older, you just kind of decide at some point, you are who you are and if that's not good enough, so what. I told one friend who hadn't messaged me in 5 years, who suddenly wanted to be my friend again, that I wasn't interested. Five years of ignored hello's and Facebook reminder happy birthday's, do not a friendship make. I told her my friends are active in my life, and want to hang out with me, and I'm loyal to them, but someone who just randomly decides they want to rejoin, no thanks. Like, I don't have to be everyone's friend or do all the things or try and impress like I felt I had to before I got to this place in my life.
You have time for rest and everyone leave their expectation lowest level but if you teenager or Student then everyone expect perfection from you in every topic..
We just human too!!

Having a good wife and not having to date in search of girlfriends.
Not having to worry about peer pressure or social trends.
The knowledge and wisdom I have accumulated over the years.
I think the best is overall being phazed by less and just being more chill as a result. Cause you already know the world isn't suddenly gonna end or people are suddenly gonna die like the media is trying to fear monger about a new thing every other year. You already know it's always a lie and you can just chill out
@genericname85 yeah no I never was a end of the world alarmist lol but we can keep playing pin the tail on the donkey
As I'm not old I'm not sure my opinion counts, but from what I've heard old people around me say, the best part of getting old is learning to not give a fuck. Teenagers for example are super concerned about what others think of them and being popular. For old people this is a complete and foreign non-issue. I've also heard having enough wisdom to not ever make the same mistakes again. New mistakes sure but you've had a lifetime to correct all your old mistakes.
What is that a socialist government employee that is trying to avoid being fired? The camo isn't working trans man. The checks are being canceled and the letters are being removed from the front of the building. It's light out soon enough. Watch out for the janitor driving the vacuum. You don't want to get run over...
Just being a little bit wiser and understanding that people are just people and they are who they are and you either accept them or you don't
And maybe understanding that people look up at you and you can change somebody's life just by simple words for the better because that's what it's all about understanding yourself becoming one with yourself one with others and one with this universe and be happy
It's hard to think of a good part. But I will say that the wisdom you obtain, especially when you become much older not just a little older, gives you a different perspective on everything.
With each decade that goes by you realize how little you knew the decade before and how much you had to learn.
You thought you knew it all but 10 years later you realize you knew nothing.
Nothing builds wisdom like experience.
More freedoms which gradually becomes less freedoms.
Kid - Run around on the playground, bike with friends, and hang out at the arcade
Late Teen - Drive a car, go to the movies whenever you want, and try to graduate
Adult - Pretty much the same as before though you can own a gun & drink
Elderly - Keys taken away, poor eyesight, poor hearing, barely walk, tired…. And need more assistance / less independence.
There is a Yin & Yang Ig
*Adults can vote too also have to pay taxes, forgot about that
There isn’t really anything good about it. You can be quirky when you’re young too.
Getting old is painful. You’re no longer as strong, healthy, handsome/pretty, energetic, employable, educable, coordinated, mobile etc. Your life is due to expire before people who are younger. You saw stuff they didn’t before they were born but they can just look it up in history whereas you will never know what they will see after you die.
You can get discounts on some things. Other than that, it sucks.
Giving less of a shit about anything and living life on your terms and no one else's.
There is two times in your life where nobody gives a fuck what you do. When you’re a kid and when you’re old
Best part of getting old is you’ve probably made almost every mistake possible, and you can sit back and enjoy life.
Knowing you get to, I think.
There are quite some people I wish were still around, and age-wise... they should be.
I think the best of getting old that everyone respects and regards the old people which is really nice to see specially in the Asian countries...
Not giving a fuck or at least not having the expectations from others expecting me to give a fuck.
I think you need to define 'Old' before you can ask, ' What is the best part of getting old '!
Experience I guess and wisdom..
Look , I dont consider myself old , and I never will , I can do and go better than I did 20 years ago.
I don't know. I will let you know when I get there.
