Sure can, but back then the internet wasn't as prevalent so we didn't know what to call them officially. I mean, I personally didn't have internet access at home until I was a junior in high school and even that was AOL dial up. Doesn't mean they didn't exist though, it just wasn't as commonly heard of as it is now.

Obviously trans people have existed throughout history and even the Bible speaks of eunuchs who voluntarily got themselves castrated as being favored by God.

Nope. There were gay kids, but the concept of transgender didn't exist.
I think it only exists today as a result of mass psychosis due to brainwashing. The very idea that a person can change their sex is insane, but it sure is a money maker for the medical and pharma industries who don't care how many people they harm.
