Whoever starts the fight (violence) is responsible. If the guy is like “Not again! Tuna casserole!” and then just start beating the shit out of his wife or whatever, then sure clearly he started the violence, so he should go to jail for battery. In contrast if they get into an argument and she starts throwing dishes or whatever at him across the house during her hissy fit, then she’s committed assault with a deadly weapon. So if he beats the shit out of her to get her to stop being a violent psycho, then no he should not go to jail, she should go to jail. Same goes for any situation. If a woman slaps someone on the street and she gets her ass beat by a man, she started the fight. Thus she should go to jail. If some teenage boys are playing the knock out game, and they rabbit punch some random women in the back of the head then they should go to jail. The responsibility always lies with the person that starts the violence, everyone has a right to self defense.

It depends on the circumstances. Whoever initiates the physical violence is at fault. And the rules should apply to women who abuse men EQUALLY.

My ex used to slap me when she got angry. That progressed to her hitting me with things like a hardcover book and a picture frame. I finally told her if she did it again she would be sorry. She immediately slapped me again and I immediately knocked her on her ass. She had a red mark on her face, and had she called the police (which she didn't) I would have been the one who went to jail, not her. That's wrong.

By the way, she never assaulted me again, ever.

That is how it is. A wife with a history of violence attacked her husband with a knife and cut him slightly. The police immediately arrested him and put him in handcuffs. The police women went upstairs and talked to the children who confirmed their mother attacked their father with a knife. Then the police removed the handcuffs from the man and said, "The women need therapy." However, they did not arrest or handcuff her.

If a woman attacks and injures a man with a knife. She only needs therapy. However, if the roles are reversed, the man goes to prison.
