Will you give up your plane seat for crying child?

To be honest if they're being brat about it then no. But if the child asks respectfully and convincingly then I'll gladly do so. Because respectful kids are rare nowadays, every gen alpha is brain rot.
When I say on my first ever flight then my parents weren't that rich that they could spend on luxury stuff, I mean they could have afforded a window seat but money was tight and everything possible had to be saved. And I was sitting between my mom and this lady who was around 40 years old. I was constantly trying to look out of the window and asked the lady really kindly if I could sit there only while the plane takes off and in return I would give her my kitkat.
She thought I was cute and gave me her seat for the whole flight and went to the aisle seat and her and my mom had a nice chat.
There are people who save money by getting different seats where they can and then rely on making other people feel obligated if they ask them if they can change places with you so that they can sit together. When I first started flying, I had a first class seat that I paid for. When I boarded someone was sitting in my seat, so I thought I made a mistake or something. So, I didn't say anything and just went to find an empty seat. Now that I've smartened up on this ploy, I would have the stewardess escort him to the baggage compartment. 😅😄 No one is getting my seat that I paid $90 for unless they paid me what I had paid.
@Staximus $90 is just to pay to choose the seat. Otherwise you can’t choose the seats, and just get random seats.
@Staximus $90 was the price for an upgrade to 1st class seat, which is in addition to your ticket cost to whatever class you were originally flying. We wish it was that cheap for first class. But then everyone would be flying first.
@itsannalee You can pick your seats if you book ahead, like what row, and aisle or window, etc. But you have to pay to change to a first class. But then you still get to pick your seat in First too, if it is available. I book a month or more in advance so have my pick of almost any seat on the plane.
Yes that’s why I won’t give up my seat because i always paid more to get seat i want.
Exactly!
@Staximus That $90 is just on top of what you already paid, or would have to pay for a seat in coach.
Really depends on the feel I get of the people involved.
I don't remember the exact details of this case but wasn't it like a religious group or something, trying to reorganize the whole plane for themselves? They can kiss my ass in that situation.
If I see the parents trying to keep the kid calm and not bother others? I most likely will oblige, or simply offer my seat.
If I see the parents just straight up acting like they are entitled to my seat because their kid is crying? Fuck off.
Everyone could use a little help now and then, and I'll gladly help parents who really put in the effort.
In the event that I could swap seats instead of having to get off the plane I might bite the bullet, and do it if the situation was one, I could be sympathetic too. Sometimes kids cry on a plane for a reason. I don't want to be the asshole who makes a kid sit away from his mom on their first plane flight and make them cry because they're nervous. Also, if I was a parent on a plane with a bunch of strangers, I would want my kid right next to me. I don't know what other creeps there could be on there.

I'm an amputee. I choose my seat based on my physical needs. The main one being people get freaked out when they sit next to a guy missing his right leg. So I pick window seats on the right side of the plane. That way I can remove my prosthetic - important for a long haul flight - without freaking out the person next to me.
Every passenger has that same ability and right. You want the seat, book in advance. Don't bitch about it if you leave it to the last second or don't book in advance.
Also, it's unlikely I'm travelling without my own child. But even if I am, I paid for the seat. I'm sitting in it.
The entitlement of people pisses me off. Either buy your kid a seat or shut up. Nobody’s obligated to give their seat up, while it’s a kind gesture if someone does it. It’s kind because they don’t have to do it.
I can’t help that you can’t keep your child under control. Maybe you shouldn’t be flying
@summeroflove it's okay man. It's okay 😿😹 you and I, will be, ok 🆗
@NicholasRedone thanks
@summeroflove surprised you haven't seen my circumcision questions on my profile lol I'm finally getting to it after so many years lol and Covid delays roll eyes 👀👀
@NicholasRedone I haven’t
If the airline agrees to bump me up to first class for free I’ll take the deal however if I have earplugs & paid for the seat I’m staying. If I don’t have earplugs & the child keeps crying I’ll think about it.
Just let them cry and bother everyone in the plane. Or the parents gotta pay for the seat
Cash is king & I agree the parents should have bought the seat.
Guess What? The airline & the passengers who filmed her are getting sued. I love it.
Of course not unless there is a similar seat available then I don't mind.
Up to the parent to keep the kid in check.
i would. it might not be the best flight, but I’d rather have the child have a good flighttt💕💕
Yes I would. For the peace of the plane, I would allow them my seat and go to another, so that they could be closer to a parent or just have the seat to fall asleep. Why should they suffer in a closed cabin?
It depends on what it's all about a plane is only so big with all the same seats. I'm sure if it was going yo make a difference some how. I probably would
The seats might be the same, but the layout is different. Sometimes you need to pay more for the certain seats.
This is true, and I agree with you about paying for the layout of your seat, and you sit down, and it's time to relax and fly and if I had to listen to a kid cry. For a flight I would f o anything for that peace. So I might trade seat . Or just dump a bag of candy,, and sodas on his lap and walk away
If the airline moved me up to first class I might. Otherwise I paid for the seat it's mine. For another thing parents that fly with children should pay for & book a seat for the child next to them.
I'm sympathetic towards children, but my response would solely depend on the parents of said child. If you seem entitled to my paid seat, you aren't getting my seat.
nope. and to have lost an entire career because of that and what others think is "wrong" is just ridiculous
Oh hell no. That would teach the spoiled brat exactly the wrong lesson. That's not who I am. The louder that brat screams, the more I smile.
sure bc im not paying for anything more than C unless it's a sale or something
ik shit happens and if she seems genuine about it then i probably would
Probably not a real story. Once you see "influencer" then it's probably clickbait.
I would give up my seat but no parent would ask you to.
I would if I had someone else to sit.
Hell no I paid for my seat. I get annoyed when I sit next to an obese person whose fat spills into my personal space. I'm not putting up with people's nonsense.
No, especially since another adult with those two people had their own window seat and they didn't put that brat into THAT seat to shut him up!!
It would depend on the situation, but generally... No.
@AviatorTom that's not the "attitude" I was expecting tom from a captain of the enterprise. 👀😭😭😭 🚀 Ask yourself internally Aviator, wouldn't Kirk or Spock or even Unnamed Star Trek Crew Member have given up, "their" seat? 💺 👀 ***Waits for dramatic pause for answer ****
@NicholasRedone Vulcan logic indicates the child is most likely not crying because of the seat, but for other reasons. Giving up the seat will not stop the child from crying, so why give up the seat?
@AviatorTom and that's why Slick Spock isn't the captain ✈️🛫 Kirk and Picard the Bald Guy are :P
@itsannalee in plane seat exchanges we must 💺 I'd, yes I'd give up my seat - if the airline and if the staff, permit :)
@itsannalee if only she'd given back to society :( 💺💺💺🙃😀
@itsannalee so I'm glad in her shoes, I would've given up the seat 💺💺💺💺💺👀
It depends on the situation but no one has the right to tell me to move from my seat if i don't want to because i have paid for it just like anyone else!
No, I would give my window seat to a child who had never flown before, or was sitting next to me.
It would depend on where I would be sitting instead. If it was a middle seat then nope but window or aisle isn't too big a deal
If I get one other seat - and that little bastard now is quiet... where is the problem?
The problem in this situation is mostly people who asked to change their seat pay more to get the seat, like window seat. Etc
From a window seat you can stare at clouds or at some aircraft parts.
Silly, to pay for that :D
But if there really are no volunteers... how about letting the kid join the cockpit crew?
People have money, and someone else’s kids are sound not my problem. I wouldn’t care tbh if even they throw the kid away from the window in that situation.
I was considering this option as well. Heh heh
Upset kids tend to gravitate to me. They'd probably end up crashed out asleep in my lap.
No.
Tell the kid that life’s not fair and that they should seek out their own chair lol.
No, I would put the kid in the overhead storage rack.
in bus or train if I'm not sleepy... I will give... unless 50 50 in that situation
I wouldn't either
Their parents should have sorted it before flight
Most of the time I would, it would depend tho.
Nope. Your poor parenting decisions are not my problem.
Nope. Time to learn that you don't always get what you want.
Fuck no no no why would I have my seat of I paid for window seat
No especially since I paid for business class seat I paid for it.
No if I paid for it, I'm using it
No I wouldn’t they chair you for their seats. on top of plane ticket.
Sure to not split a kid from their family
Nope
@itsannalee NO, absolutely not
Nope. Not my problem.
it's a seat not a big deal
just move your the adult
It’s a big deal since in this situation is mostly people who asked to change their seat pay way more expensive to get the seat, like window seat. Etc
but it's a little child. going on the flight either way
Your child is not someone else’s responsibility, if you can’t afford to get better seat. Don’t ask anyone to give up their seat for your child.
well in that case we could say that about everything
I guess if I got another seat in exchange.
Why can’t they sit on the parents lap?
Nah screw that kid
Fuck no, I paid big money for my seat
Only if they stop crying
I would, it is fine.
Agreed
No, I won't!
Fuck no!
I wouldn't either.
No..
Sure
I would
No way
sure
