Lol no this seems like something straight out of a period piece film, or museum; just kidding lol. Our living room was more modern than that. It had a big screen tv with a dvd player, stereo with speakers, playstation, a Kandinsky replica and some abstract art paintings on the walls plus a desk with a computer in the entrance hall, which connected with the living room and bookcases with a grand collection of books. Also, from what I've seen in photos, they used to have one of these old vhs players, even though I don't remember it at all, as I was very young back then; which they eventually replaced with the DVD player
Apart from the wooden tv it's not far off that now.
As for my living room growing up it had a fireplace, lots of windows, skylights & a sliding door that went out to a private deck. Sectional couches around the room & one hell of a stereo with big speakers. The living room was off limits & only got used during the holidays & family gatherings. We had another room we called the recreational room which had a tv, couch, computer. My grandparents living room looked like the one in your photo.
Add a fireplace and that's it. (Yes, we use fireplaces in northeast Florida in the winter.)
North East FL, I'm from North West FL
Thanks for MHO (ohm backwards)!

At my grandparents house, Yes. Ours was a little more modern, striped couch pattern, large glass table in the middle, white painted walls, tile floor and persian carpet (in winters only). a TV with buttons from 1-12 (no remote) i was the youngest so i was the remote :D. The wall clock we had similar as in the photo.
My grandparents had sort of this kind of living room but there were still differences. They had a sofa and two chairs like this but they were smooth fake leather and the tv was more modern. Everything was a bit more modern I guess. But similar vibes still.

Yours has a 60s feel. I grew up in the late 90s/2000s so mine was very close to this-minus the palm tree and not as many decorations on the floor.
That pic is reasonably close to my own family room growing up. The TV is quite close if not identical. A Magnavox console TV. But ours was a bit older, with manual tuning and no remote control.
I believe it was this one:

Hmmm , not quite..
But Sydney family ( more inner city ) was pretty close to that , we were Burbs so living area was quite large , carpet was Blue ( like Royal ) TV similar , heater ( oil ) AirCon like in the wall , it was living / dining , many windows.
A lot of similarities. I never new I was a redneck till Jeff Foxworthy gained popularity and he said "if you have a t. v. that sits on top of a broken t. v. you might be a redneck". Because we always had those old tube t. v.'s when I was a kid and I remember it seemed like my father was always taking one of them to the T. V. Repar shop.🤣
No, but yes :D
My parents were indeed bourgeois, and ''good citizens'' - but they were progressive enough to avoid the most kitschy kinds of home deco.
No one gets blamed here... it was the older folks and their ways. Not ''us'' :D
no not even close lol
in most places i lived the houses weren't that stable like structurally and it was a mess. my step-dads was put together but it was modernish. however my grandma's living room used to look like that kinda in the 2000's
That looks fancy.
my parents and I just came to the US and we lived in a railroad apt. with hand me down furnitures.
so no… my home didn’t look like that.
We called that our Family Room Add a big old school wood console stereo. Mom had a formal living room with antique and reproduction Mediterranean furniture, There was a sound system there but no TV. We were told to stay out of it.
Not my childhood, but quite possibly my grandparents childhood. ^^;
I'm a 90s girl, I grew up with CRT television and VHS players, but nothing like what’s in the image you provided.
Aah 80s! Almost identical except the coffee table was less elaborate. Those browns go really nice together, and with the wood too!
Your sofa is for laying n watching but ours faced tv.
Maybe just the TV but a better looking version of the TV.
Our home has more modern furniture in it.
Our TV set was a huge big TV that sat on the floor with the decorative wood frame surrounded by it we had carpet and a lot of space in the living room
Wow! That looks so 60s! Looks like someone's grandma's house. 👴🏼🧓🏼
Close. Only a sofa, carpet was darker and the TV was covered anytime I was at-home
no, we had green sofas with yellow tiny star I think stitched in and we had the encyclopedia sets in a glass bookcase.
It looks like it could have been.
LOL That TV for sure
Those couches are spot on.. had dark shag carpet to go with it though lol
That looks more like my grandmothers living room.
No, mine was more modern but I am lot younger than you
Like like something of my grandparents house
I guess sort of... Not as cluttered, not so many clashing patterns...
Mine was quite similar, but my tv was not wooden.
No, not even my grandparents and aunts and uncles houses looked like that.
No, I was born in the 2000s lol
Not exactly but close enough.
No, I am not that old.
No… not even at my grandparents! 😬😂
i can't recall
Yep good ol days with the console style TVs
Yes, but we had a fireplace too
Far too tidy, but not far off
Doesn't look like mine. Where's the fireplace?
Until 6 then there was an upgrade.
Not exactly, but pretty similar.
Just, missed this stage, but close.
Not exactly.
Absolutely
No mine was better
