There shouldn't even be anything surprisng to anyone honest with themselves. How do people not see undeniable evidence that our consciousness is not local in time nor space? There are obvious observations as well as scientific government funded data. ﾠ

I haven't heard of this. It's just coincidence. You should actually expect things like this to happen.

People think of probability and statistics in the wrong way. The odds of writing one book that closely parallels one event is extremely small. But there are millions of events, and millions of books. The odds of SOME of those books closely paralleling SOME of those events are very high.

You should EXPECT this kind of coincidence to happen because SOME of those books paralleling SOME of those events is much higher than NONE of them paralleling.

A lot of things in probability are counter intuitive. The Monty Hall problem is a good example. Even for people who are good at math it's totally counter intuitive.

Where did you hear this about lifeboats CAUSING deaths?

It's common knowledge and well documented. Usually it's during training exercises or when unqualified people mess with them. the problem largely lies in the complex release mechanism.

From my knowledge the number of people saved when lifeboats are called out far exceeds accidents in or around them.
A quick search of the RNLI shows they've saved over 140 thousand lives in their existence which amounts to almost 700 per year EVERY year in their 200 years of existence. I don't think you're getting your data from reliable sources @purplepoppy

@Shiprex Sure didn't help the people on Titanic. They didn't even get them all launched because of the angle of the ship. Had they not been so confident on staying afloat and put people in lifeboats a lot earlier, many more would have been saved. In fact some of the lifeboats were way below their capacity of passengers.

I looked it up and the clip doesn't mention lifeboat crews only ones on ships that are "not backed up" by proper studies. So if we're ignoring professional manned lifeboats then there are seldom enough ships sinking for lifeboats to be likely to be used. These days as well ships that get into trouble end up relying on "air lifeboats" in the form of choppers manned by coastguards.

There have been many books written about the Titanic, like "A Night To Remember", but I never heard of this book. You would have thought that it would be more popular. We have all seen the movie Titanic, but have you ever heard of the movie "Raise the Titanic"?
