How do you Celebrate Your Birthday?

I try to do something memorable for my Birthday. If it falls during the week, I book a holiday from work, and perhaps take a vacation. What have you organised for your Birthday this year, or if you've already celebrated, was it a special day?

I used to have some really disappointing birthdays until finally a few years ago, I just decided to be the master of my own happiness on this day each year and just use it to do things I like. I hate big parties anyway, so it has become 100% about treating myself.

1. I always take the day off. I never take days off, but for my birthday, it's non-negotiable.
2. I have a few birthday traditions. One is I eat out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I love to cook, but on this day, I treat myself all day long. I'll usually go out for lunch or dinner with either a few close friends or family.
3. I do a birthday photoshoot. I'm a photographer, so I like to get super creative. Some of my favorites have been re-creating a bunch of scenes from the movie "Moonrise Kingdom," one year I did film noir style photos, and one that took forever was I did a series of shots of what I would look like/dress like blowing out the candles on a cake if I lived in the last 6 decades.
4. I have a guilt free shopping spree of a few hundred dollars. I allow myself to be totally frivolous, and buy whatever I want. I actually do this during Black Friday week because it's only like a week or so until my actual birthday, so that all the gifts arrive by my birthday.
5. Lastly, I try to do one fun thing like hit the beach, visit the next city over, or go somewhere in town I've never been before but have always wanted to visit.

My family and I go out to eat in the morning and after we get home we would have a small party and eat a cake with beers and wine along with my relatives and friends and we sing on Karaoke.

Cut a cake with my parents and maybe few cousins and uncles or aunts.

I wanted to call all my friends and acquaintances in my 16th birthday and make it special because come on, it's the sweet sixteen but only one showed up. And I'm actually grateful because she asked others if they'll come or not and after realising no one would come she decided to cancel her plans to attend me. And she isn't even my best friend, she was only my acquaintance then who just smiled at me occasionally. She's a nice friend now.

My birthday is coming up in a couple weeks, falls right on Easter woo. A friend of my fiance and i's birthday is the day before mine so we're planning a joint thing. So far the idea is to go watch the Minecraft movie even though it's going to be terrible, go out for dinner then come back to our place for games and cake (made by yours truly). No plans for my actual birthday other than the day off work.
