How do you get motor oil off an article of clothing?

I was helping a guy friend out with his car when my leg rubbed up against the car and left a big oil stain on my pants left leg. I can’t find anything to remove the stain and these jeans are $150 CAD each.

First rule is never put oil stained clothes in the dryer until the stain is gone. Use mechanic's cleaner, or a paste made of oxiclean or powdered laundry detergent, or undiluted dish soap, or undiluted liquid laundry detergent, or a cleaning product called Awesome, or a laundry soap bar for stains called "Fels Naptha". Put whatever you decide to use on the stain as full strength as possible and scrub thoroughly in all directions with an old toothbrush. Then blast it off with the garden hose with a nozzle that makes a high pressure concentrated stream. I've worked on a lot of cars and got many grease stains out of clothes

As a last resort you could try zippo lighter fluid or naphthalene but it's extremely flammable. Use it on the stained area and then wash with dish soap, that will take it out

I'm sorry to tell you. You will never get that out. I am not somebody who knows a whole lot about tips and tricks for laundry. But I can promise you none of them are going to help you if you've got motor oil on your jeans. That is often where "random shop rags" end up coming from. Shit you ruined with oil working on a car.

If the oil didn't soak into the fabric, put the pants in the freezer so the oil solidifies, then scrape it off with a dull knife.

If the oil did soak into the fabric, use a stain remover like Oxiclean on it, let it soak for a while. then wash the clothing like usual.

100 percent whole milk with the fat will break down the oil, causing it to lift out of the clothes. You would have to soak the clothes in the milk overnight, then throw them in the wash. I recommend air dying them rather than putting them in the dryer. Awesome also does a good job at helping to get rid of stains; use it with caution.

Have you tried oxy clean. I put it in the washing machine every load I do. It takes out all types of stains
