Have you ever gone to work and had to work with a broken spirit?

I am a type one diabetic and in case you are not aware. In the United States, unless you are self employed, you stand a high likelihood of being asked to leave you employment at the age of 59.5years of age. Administration does not want to fire you because of 14th amendment violations. So they tell you that your new position will be paying 40,000 dollars less than your current position. Naturally, you resign, which takes them off the hook. Even after turning in your resignation, most work out the remainder of a month before you go. I kept up my work pace and responsibilities. I even took call the weekend after my termination date. Broken? Hell no! Talk about PTSD. Every principle of American success had failed me. Got the required education, Had 30 years of experience, Kept up with incoming work, Never told them no, and went beyond work expectations. Two years later , Triple Bypass and Right below the knee amputation. Bad Decisions, I did not ask for Diabetes. I was told by professionals that they were surprise that i had not committed suicide. 15 years later, Attitudes have changed.
Yes and no. I mean yes, but they have to pay me either way. And a person should ALWAYS take the attitude of they are in the business of (your name) and the money you make working where you do is in the furthering of (your name). This is NOT a TEAM. Your job does not care about you. They would slit your throat in a heartbeat if it made them a few extra dollars. One should never lose sight of that reality. And don't take ANY of this personal. It's just business.
Having your spirit broken by your job is not a bad thing. It's called a reality check.
I’ve noticed that
Yep! I remember I had to go to work after finding out that I was being cheated on basically all throughout my relationship of three years. I didn’t show up with make up on and my eyes were super puffy from crying all night. Work actually helped me distract myself from the pain, I was pretty much on auto pilot.
So now you are a workaholic but you're working hard to change? 🤣
@RingOfFire I can never be a workaholic, I stop working as soon as it hits 5 PM 😂
there have been better and worse days in my life... but I really like what I do at work... so switching mode to work never has been problematic... tbh it was a relief, that I could focus my thoughts on something different...

Yes I had a burnout and depression because of work but that's not gonna happen ever again in my life.
Oh yes definitely. I cried at work one time because my spirit was so broken.
I'm sorry that you can. It's so not a great feeling.
There are days when I don’t want to be at work but not because of a broken spirit. Stayed up to late or just would rather be somewhere else… @liaraven may I ask if something has broken your spirit? Can I help?
Life is hard sometimes but remember that the experience you gain from this hard time will be what helps get you through the next one. And what you learn from that one will help in the next one. Eventually even when life gets hard you are prepared for it. And if not just give me a shout, I will be there for you…. Because that is what friends are for….
I wouldn't say a broken spirit. There will be days where I am lower on energy.
Yes, for several months, maybe a year or two.
No, I got my best friend back almost 2 years after I lost her.
EVerytime I go to work I'm more depressed each day that pass xD
Lots of times. I knew my boss would not care about it so I just sucked it up like i always do.
Few time but I just power through it. Luckily I work from home.
But i don’t have to deal with people. It helps I can work with my issues.
Yea, but good thing I was climbing buildings so I rarely thought about it.
I am calling @NathanDavis because of your dirty mirror lmfaooo
@NathanDavis where the hell you been... Lol
at work... lol
Yes, when I found out that the girl I love got married :(
That’s hard
Indeed 😢
EVERY
FUCKING
DAY
No, only a broken computer or network.
Yes, divorced woman abusive alcoholic husband, about a year after her divorce both of her daughters were involved in a fatal crash because of a drunk driver.
Both were killed pronounced dated at the scene.
feel like everyone has before lol
Yeah it totally sucks
I'm partly truck driver and terrain supervisor. I'm responsable for getting all the trailers at the right dock in the right time so that my colleagues can load them, and park them once they are full. And I'm responsible for everything that happens on our yard (safety, helping drivers find their way, make sure drivers follow guidelines on our yard etc..)
My job is all about running fast and standing still. There is no middle ground. Im either super busy racing against time to get everything in place at the right time but once I finished the peak hours I'm standing still listening to the complaints that drivers have. Complaints that are often unnecessary or out of my control.
All they have to do is drive from point A to point B but still they sound like they have the worst job in the world. Super unnoying sometimes 😂
Almost every day. It's the American work life for many of us in corporate America unfortunately.
No, I never experienced that
Yes all the time! I did it for over 20 years.
Yes lol sometimes work breaks my spirit
I used to have everything bother me but these days I like to think I'm not like that anymore
Often. One. Day. At. A. Time.
Wouldn’t you like to know?
All. THE. TIME. That comes with being an adult. Doing things because you have to not want to.
Today, and last week, and the week before.
@fish5505_87 what happened
@EmmiL going through a rough stretch of life, that's all. Everyone and again we have to regroup and kick ourselves in the ass. Being here, helps me unwind a bit. We all go through it =, and so many people around the world are suffering way worse than me! So Im not complaining.
But I could use a little cheer, lol!
@fish5505_87 sending good vibes your way lol
Awesome, thanks!!
Everyday of my existence is one spent with a broken spirit.
