It depends on what kind of fishing it is. Some kinds can be very active and physical, like fly fishing stripping a streamer in a fast flowing river. You can easily work up a sweat.

If you're just soaking a bait waiting for a bite, that can be peaceful and relaxing.

I haven't done it yet but I think it is, specially with a loved ones whom you can converse. If no fishes are caught, well, got one beside you 🤷‍♀️

My father and I used to go fishing when I was much younger. I never found it relaxing. It was always stressful. Will I catch a fish? What will I do with it when I do catch it?

Unless it's one's profession - or one is lost in the wilderness - it's one of the most pointless things to do.

For me, at least. I feel no desire to prove that I'm smarter than a fish.

Depends what the premise is. Tournament fishing is extremely stressful as is fishing with kids. Doing it for something to do is often relaxing.
