What are your thoughts on people who require guests to remove their shoes upon entering their house?

These types of people piss me off. Like I get it if the bottom of my shoes is covered with mud and dirt, and I’m tracking all kinds of shit into the house. In that case, I understand. But aside from that instance, it’s just stupid. And what I really don’t like about it is the fact that they make it a respect issue. As if wearing shoes in a house is somehow disrespectful. Gtfoh. No, not taking your own guests comfort into consideration is disrespectful.

I take my shoes off when I get home. I don’t see a problem doing the same when I’m a guest, especially if I’m asked to do so. It’s more comfortable to walk around without shoes. If you feel differently, maybe that’s a conversation to have with a podiatrist.

When I was young we had the best doormat that was made out of some kind of fibrous plant material, it was like a tightly packed coarse bristled broom. I remember my mom bought it from a blind door-to-door salesman from Industries For The Blind or something like that. If people were not unconscious and were considerate enough to use it, no dirt was tracked into the house. All these shoe Nazis need to get one of those doormats.

My friend is Korean and it's a big thing for them.

I usually don't wear outdoor wear such as outdoor shoes or jackets indoors.
At least not in my home or others peoples homes.

If I go to a store I usually keep on what I came in.

This is a cultural difference, honey. Just as it is considered normal to enter a house with the shoes you wear outside in your culture, some people do not want others to enter their houses with shoes on. This is not disrespectful at all.
