I have never seen one until last night and it was beautiful! Now I want one lol Unfortunately, they are quite pricey, this one was inherited and was appraised, three years ago, at $35,000 on the low end. I've collected a few clocks through the years but obviously, nothing compares. It's a Howard Miller and was built in 1965.

My parents had one that they had for a very long time , even before I was born , I use to love that thing when I was a kid , when my Mom passed away a few years back my Dad ended up putting the house up for sale and he made a ton of money off the Clock because it was considered an antique

I have never seen one until last night and was truly amazed at how beautiful they look and sound. I would have loved having one when I was a kid as well. Sorry about your mom.

I just looked it up there is cheap ones at 300 so yeah for sure would of sold it with no regret, then again I don't like them anyway.

Yeah, when it chimes, it sounds beautiful but echo's throughout the entire house lol It would be very charming for a while but I can see it being very annoying eventually!

@nawtee_me OMG! I have a coo coo clock but can't get it to work. It was my great grandmother's and it has chains that you have to put pinecones on for weight so it keeps correct time and they also control the "coo coo" bird but the damn bird would always get stuck half way out the door lol I have it hanging but it doesn't work. The thing is, no one knows how to work on things that old.
1 yMy parents have a huge one in their living room. The thing is ancient and was brought over from Eastern Europe by my great grandparents when they moved to America from Russia in the early 1900s.

Oh, wow! Does it still work? My next question, did you appreciate it when growing up? That's A LOT of amazing history!
- 1 y
It does actually still work! My dad is friends with a guy who owns a watch shop, and he's made a few repairs to the gears over the years. I've always thought it was kinda cool, but I didn't really start appreciating it until I became an engineer
- 1 y
I'm jealous! That is so cool. Like I told another opiner, I have a very old coo coo clock that I can't get to work but I can't find anyone that knows how to work on something that old (for cheap, I should add!). Your dad is fortunate to have a friend that has that knowledge. I think it's becoming a lost art.

Just curious, but do you still live in Wisconsin? A person who used to be on here I'd chat with, Lacie Jordan, mentioned that she was irl friends with you, and that you and I lived in the same state. There are a few watch shops in reasonable driving distances you could try.
If you want, we can talk more in DMs about location specifics if you're interested. - 1 y
I guess I should say that are *probably* in reasonable driving distances.

Yes, I live in northern WI.

There's this place called Klotz Watch & Repair shop that's been around for like 50+ years I think. They might be able to help you. I once went there to have my omega watch repaired and it was pretty affordable, unlike actual Omega official repair costs.
by the way if you don't mind me asking, do you know why your friend left this site? I miss chatting with her in DMs lol

1 yI have a Howard Miller satellite clock that my mom gave to me for my office. It was originally my dad's but he couldn't figure out how to set it so it would automatically set itself for daylight savings time. It's a $300 clock! Dumb asses! They are very expensive and very high quality.

Lol.. I'm guessing your mom bought it at a rummage and had no idea how much it was worth! Way to take advantage of your parents 😉
She can't remember where she got it from. I asked Karen and she thinks my mom bought it at an estate sale but doesn't remember if she paid a lot for it. Maybe my mom is taking advantage of desperate families?

😂 The stories I could tell you about "estate" sales... I'll never go to another one! Way too much drama.

1 yhttps://www.youtube.com/embed/0Dl4LihnDR8Back in the day my grandparents had a grandfather clock in their home & my aunt & uncle have one too. As for my home my clocks are all digital with the exclusion of the analog clock out on the patio. I’m more of a cuckoo clock kind of a person.

OMG 😂😂 That Carol Burnett skit is the best! I love coo coo clocks and actually have two. One is newer but one is very old and doesn't keep time. The door also slams shut on the poor bird when he's going back inside and he gets stuck lol I do display it because it is nice.
My grandparents also had a cuckoo clock & when I was a puppy I thought it was the coolest thing in the world seeing it action for the first time. My grandfather would reset the time so I could see the birdie breakthrough the door & go back inside. In addition to grandfather clocks did you also know there are grandmother clocks? The skits on Carol Burnett show were classic & online I watch them from time to time for a good laugh. I like blooper reels too.

Anonymous(36-45)1 ynah. but an old lady I used to go hang out with on Sundays had one. I guess it was big but I'm used to seeing things that big when I look at myself naked in the mirror, so I never noticed.🤣 I loved how it looked and sounded though. They are really amazing pieces of art.

It's funny you say that, because my dad told me a friend of his built one in highschool woods class. That is so cool!
- 1 y
My brother bought a kit and built it. We used to have an original in the dining room when I was little but I don't know what happened to it. I guess grandma sold it or gave it to one of her other kids.

@Beckybooboo
Yes I lt, but as I changed interior design more as Moderne, I moved that clock to study room, far from main rooms - 1 y
@Beckybooboo
Its floor clock, carved wood. - 1 y
Ha Ha I told my boyfriend we'd have to buy a different, probably older home with a lot of natural wood in it that would showcase the clock! Or I'll have to redecorate to an older style look, with more dark wood furniture. It's such a warm and comforting look. That's how their house is. It's really pretty and inviting.

@Beckybooboo
