It’s equal…. Being honest is a CHOICE someone makes. I don’t care if you’re a man or a woman you can choose to be honest or not.

If anyone says “women can’t help it” then you’re literally making a excuse for them because they can help themselves. There’s good and bad of both sexes and assuming that someone’s not a liar because you aren’t can get you hurt.

Truth is many people aren’t liars and project that on others. As where liars project themselves on others and think everyone lies so that’s how you survive. I better lie and deceive you before you do me. The more evil people enjoy taking advantage

I will say too that some people lie too to save someone’s feelings. Even if lying is wrong and either telling the truth respectfully or saying nothing at all would be better.

Some people lie to spare feelings. They lie to protect people. They lie for various reasons.

But nefarious liars are usually covering who they really are

If we're talking about straightforwardness and telling it like it is.. Definitely men.. We're less likely to beat around the bush and less likely to coddle and be fake.. If we don't particularly like somebody we tend to stay away and don't smile in their faces.. But I'm sure in other ways women are more honest I suppose..

Stupid question but the applied sense of this is due to how women and men are socialized. Men are simply encouraged to be more direct whereas women are not. We have to put on platitudes out just to get by. Honest women are far more brutal than honest men and they are often seen as "bitches" or some other derogatory term when it's seen as great and heroic in men. Despite this, it still comes down to the individual, not what they have between their legs.

- this is because honesty is not in women's nature so when they ARE honest they don't know how to do it artfully. Most men even when honest are not necessarily trying to be assholes. Whereas women tend to think they HAVE to be a bitch, or that it's a sign of strong femininity.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying it depends on the individual. Socialisation is not the same as social engineering. Nature vs nurture. Also, would you explain what "artful" honesty is - you're either being honest or you're not, what other ways are about it?
Nobody tries to be bitches or assholes with honesty. You're adding on extra bits and pieces to a simple concept. At the end of the day, no matter what chromosomes you have, you have the final day on how honest you are or not. Looking at it through gender is misguided in my opinion - not because of generalization but because it's not this monolithic in reality. Maybe I'm seeing it too practically for a hypothetical though.

@ManOnFire let me ask you this. We're both regulars on this site. Have you noticed which gender more often times makes fake accounts lying about their gender, age, who they are, etc? Because to me it seems pretty obvious that we have some liars here everyday on GaG while the other gender as a whole tends to be pretty honest about who they are

@Apple1996 It’s true that a lot of guys are doing that on here, but it does not translate over to the broader scale of things in every day life. Do men lie? Of course. But in general women are less honest and genuine and many even admit it by saying they lie to keep people happy or because they think it's what they want to hear. Most men are way more straightforward and will be exactly who they are in every day life. Women wear faces, fake smiles, and mingle with men dishonestly.

I guess we all know one truth. What pisses me off is when you’re arguing with someone about something, and technically you both know one is lying. The liar knows they’re lying and so does the other person. I don’t know how I’ve gotten wrangled into drawn out conversations like that.

If I were to make that judgement based solely on my experiences, I would say men are less honest. Most of the men in my life as a child cheated on their partners. My father, uncles, brothers. It’s what men do. Or so I thought. As an adult I learned that that doesn’t actually apply to all men.
I have also met some pretty dishonest women in my life.
I have concluded that dishonesty is a personal trait and gender has little to do with it.
